Question: A 30-year-old woman went to the local hospital with diarrhea (loose stools about twice a day), occasionally mucous bloody stools, and abdominal pain for several weeks. Colonoscopy in the local hospital showed congestion from rectum to sigmoid colon and multiple shallow ulcers of the rectum on 3 occasions, but biopsies revealed inflammation. She was suspected to have ulcerative colitis or pseudomembranous enteritis, and was treated with mesalazine, vancomycin, and fecal microbiota transplants, but her symptoms worsened.
