The Naruto series is versatile, to say the least, with its variety of characters, clans of shinobi, plots twists, backstories, tragedies, and so on. The several clans of shinobi were the driving force behind the series. Before the Hidden Leaf Village was found, Shinobi clans were always at odds with each other. There were wars after wars and the conflict never seemed to stop.
A few decades before the original timeline of the series, Hashirama Senju, the First Hokage, realized his dream of forging Shinobi alliances in one place. He wanted the clans of Shinobi to work and live in the same place as his comrades. Hashirama, with the help of his brother Tobirama and best friend Madara, opened schools for young Shinobi and created an era of peace.
Soon after, many clans started joining alliances with Konoha and the other villages followed suit as well. This was how the five great nations were formed. 5. Hyuga Clan
The descendants of Hamura Otsutsuki and the inheritors of the legendary power Byakugan, Hyugas are one of the mightiest in Konoha. Centuries of wars annihilated most of the powerful clans in the world.
Even the Uchihas were killed a few years before the original timeline of the series. But the Hyugas maintained their lineage firmer than ever, making them the strongest clan in Konoha in the original timeline.
4. Uzumaki Clan
The Uzumaki Clan were the distant relatives of the Senju clan and they all had distinctive red hair. They specialized in having about four times more chakra than any normal Shinobi and were especially talented in sealing Jutsu.
It was because of these qualities that the members of the Uzumaki clan were chosen to become the Jinchuriki of the Nine-Tailed Beasts. At some point in the earlier wars, the Uzumaki clan was annihilated by some of the worlds nation’s banded together.
3. Senju Clan
This was the clan of the “God of Shinobi” himself. They were the descendants of Asura Otsutsuki. The Senjus were known to feel love more than any other clan out there and had even more chakra than the Uzumaki clan. Unlike the other clans that specialized in one ability, the Senjus were exceptionally talented in Ninjutsu, Taijutsu, and Genjutsu.
These abilities gave them a wide variety of skills to combat their enemies. Out of the seven Hokages in Konoha, three of them belonged to the Senju clan. Due to the Marriage between Hashirama and Mito Uzumaki, the Senju clan merged with the Uzumaki clan and died out along with them.
2. Uchiha Clan
This legendary clan produced some of the greatest Shinobi in history. The Uchihas were the descendants of Indra Otsutsuki and were known as the clan cursed with hatred. However, Tobirama Senju declared that no other clan can feel love stronger than the Uchihas. And that is why, when the Uchihas lose someone they love, their hatred is just as powerful, which multiplies their abilities.
All the Uchihas had special abilities in their eyes known as the Sharingan. Due to the extent of what Sharingan can do, most of the information related to it as well as the Mangekyou Sharingan was hidden from them. They were all eradicated single-handedly by Itachi Uchiha under the orders of Danzo Shimura to stop their rebellion.

All Naruto fans know that the origin of Chakra and Ninjutsu started with this clan. Hagoromo Otsutsuki, widely known as the Sage of the Six Paths, was the founder o Ninshu.
Later, people started adapting Ninjutsu, which was an extension of Ninshu. The main villain in the Naruto Shippudden series was Kaguya Otsutsuki who came to earth from another planet.
The original members of the Otsutsuki clan are parasitic species who travel around the galaxy to carry out the will of Otsutsuki. The will dictates that the clan members must consume the life energy and genetic material of other worlds in order to continuously evolve, with the ultimate goal of attaining godhood.
