TenSura returns in media res, as Rimuru returns to Tempest from Walpurgis, the meeting of Demon Lords, having been officially named a member of Octogram. Once home, he receives a favorable report from Diablo, who has captured the only survivors from Falmuth’s failed assault: Razen, Archbishop Reyheim, and King Edmaris.
Diablo has spread word that the destruction of Falmuth’s army wasn’t due to Rimuru, but Veldora, the evil dragon. The story is that Rimuru saved the people of Falmuth from Veldora’s wrath, with help from the Dryads. Meanwhile, Veldora is lounging around snacking on matcha pudding. But what matters is what the nobles and people Falmuth believe.
On Rimuru’s behalf and with Razen and Reyheim’s compliance, Diablo has arranged three options for Falmuth: 1.) Edmaris is to abicate and the kingdom must pay 10,000 gold coins in reparations; 2.) Falmuth itself must agree to become a vassal of Tempest, or 3.) the war will continue.
It’s really a false choice, as the nobles will never accept vassal status, and Falmuth has no army with which to fight further war. The only remaining option then is that Edmaris will be forced to abdicate, reparations will be paid, and the king will ally himself with Youm and his faction of Tempest-friendly humans.
Rimuru, who would prefer if all the peoples of this world get along, is hopeful this means Tempest can coexist and cooperate with Falmuth in the future, for mutual benefit and prosperity. If not, well … he is a Demon Lord now. It’s a fairly quiet and succinct opening episode that reestablishes TenSura’s present geopolitical situation.
