Top 15 Weird Yet Effective Anime Weapons- MyAnimeGo

Are you bored of the traditional swords and predictable guns? Good. Me too! Fortunately, there are several unique anime shows where characters wield weird yet remarkably effective weapons.. But most importantly, they are really fun to watch in fights. We’re talking vacuum cleaners that suck the life out of you (don’t worry, not literally… probably), yo-yos that slice like razors, and even notebooks that kill.

So, prepare to be amazed by the most wacky weapons you can come across in anime!

15. Hisoka Morow’s Bungee Gum (Hunter x Hunter)

Hisoka Morow is one of the creepiest characters in the famous shounen by Yoshihiro Togashi, Hunter x Hunter. Despite his role as a main antagonist and his unhinged nature, his fighting techniques are nothing short of impressive.

His most powerful “weapon” is Bungee Gum, which is basically his aura that mimics and combines the properties of gum and rubber, which is something Hisoka often says himself. It acts as a sticky spiderweb that can trap people, bounce back attacks, or even yank objects towards him. Pretty sweet, right?

14. Hitagi Senjougahara’s Stapler (Bakemonogatari)

Think of a prickly cactus hiding a soft center. That’s Hitagi in a nutshell. Her sharp wit and fiery comebacks can pierce any conversation, leaving you both impressed and maybe a little intimidated. But under that tough exterior lies a ride-or-die friend who always has your back, which is a quality anyone would appreciate in a partner.

She packs a punch (or rather, a staple) with her arsenal of office supplies. From staplers to who-knows-what-else, she’s not afraid to get creative when it comes to “persuading” people (especially poor Koyomi).

Fun fact: her trademark weapon, the staple, is meant to reflect her animal motif, a crab’s claws.

13. Joseph’s Joestar’s Clackers (Jojo’s Bizzare Adventure)

Just like his cocky and quick-witted personality, Joseph Joestar created his own killer move: the Clacker Ripple! Imagine deadly American clackers infused with energy that can slice and dice enemies, letting the Ripple flow right in for extra ouch. He mastered these bad boys to the point where this technique became absolutely lethal.

Sadly, they met their end when a villain severed the strings, but fans can’t get over them to this day.

12. Haruko Haruhara’s Bass Guitar (FLCL)

If unpredictability was a human, she would be called Haruko Haruhara. She is crefree, spontaneus and doesn’t take things too seriously. As a result, you will catch her being mischievous and cracking jokes quite often. While she is quirky, there’s also a mysterious side to her.

Our pink-haired powerhouse uses her guitar-turned-weapon, nickname bat, to fly, fight, and even crack open heads (don’t worry, not literally… maybe).

In the FLCL universe, this is, however, nothing extraordinary. In fact, musical weapons are the signature weapons of the show.

11. Mami Tomoe’s Ribbons (Magi Madoka Magica)

Mami isn’t just another pretty face. This magical girl whips around magical ribbons as tough as steel chains, controlled by her mind like an invisible puppeteer. Need a soft landing? Ribbon net! Scaling a building? Ribbon ladder! Trapping baddies? Ribbon lasso! And if things get rough, she can turn those ribbons into razor-sharp razors.

Interestingly, her personality is a bit like her ribbons – deceptively sweet at first glance. She’s elegant, polite, and loves a good tea party. But underneath, she’s a fierce protector with a tragic past that fuels her determination.

10. Mirai Kuriyama’s Bloody Sword (Beyond the Boundary)

Maybe sword forged in fire aren’t your thing anymore. In that case, Mirai has just the thing for you. She wields a weapon straight out of horror movies – a sword made of her own blood, hardened into a deadly blade. Don’t let the crimson scare you off, this thing can slice through steel like butter.

But Mirai’s not just a walking blood fountain with anger issues. She’s actually a very compassionate and caring girl who just happened to be a Spirit World Warrior tasked with battling demons called Yomi. Her personality is a mix of introversion, determination, and a touch of awkwardnes.

9.  Igor Neuhaus’s Giant Compass (Blue Exorcist)

Igor Noihaus holds the rank of Upper First Class Exorcist and teaches at True Cross Academy. A survivor of the Blue Night, he harbors a strong hatred for demons and Satan above all else.

Compasses are typically known for specific purposes, but wielding them as weapons isn’t usually one of them. However, The Giant Compass is not just your ordinary tool for drawing magic circles. This thing pulls double duty, transforming into a melee weapon that handles like a sword. While it’s not the go-to gear for Exorcists, they do break it out now and then for crafting massive arrays.

8. Gon Freecss Fishing Pole (Hunter x Hunter)

Gon is like a ray of sunshine with the determination of a bulldozer, which makes him the golden boy of the show. This playful protagonist is all boundless energy and infectious optimism, always chasing adventure with a smile. He lacks formal training, but compensates with raw talent, an unwavering sense of justice, and starts his hunter journey with a really weird weapon: a fishing rod.

Yes, you read that right. Gon’s weapon of choice isn’t a fancy sword or mythical gun, but a trusty fishing rod. Don’t underestimate its potential, though! Even without infusing it with Nen, he uses it to accelerate his movement, grab objects, or even tear the ground below his opponents to outplay them.

7. Ryuko Matoi’s Scissor Blades (Kill la Kill)

Ryuko Matoi’s Scissor Blades in Kill la Kill are a unique and iconic weapon – giant half-scissors with a deadly edge.

She isn’t your average teenage girl. Fire burns in her eyes, fueled by a relentless search for truth and a refusal to accept the status quo. She’s not afraid to raise her voice, question authority, and fight for what she believes in, even if it means standing alone. But while her spirit is fierce and her actions bold, her motivations are grounded in a deep sense of justice.

6. Light Yagami’s Death Note (Death Note)

Death Note might not be a physical weapon, but it’s the ultimate power play. This mysterious notebook grants its owner the ability to kill anyone whose name he writes in it.

The protagonist of the series, Light, is a teenager who’s obsessed with making the world “perfect” (in his own way, of course). He’s got a serious case of “better-than-you” syndrome and sees himself as the ultimate judge of good and evil. Of course, he somehow ends up acquiring Death Note. In a nutshell, he’s like a dark knight in training, but with way less charm and way more megalomania.

5. Edward Elric’s Automail Arm (FMA)

Edward is the youngest State alchemist, a title he earned at the tender age of 12. But things weren’t always smooth sailing. In a desperate attempt to revive their deceased mother using alchemy, a big no-no in their world, things went horribly wrong. Edward lost his left leg, while his younger brother Alphonse lost his entire body.

To save Alphonse, Edward sacrificed his right arm to bind his brother’s soul to a suit of armor. He then replaced his missing limbs with amazing mechanical contraptions called automail, making him the “Fullmetal Alchemist” we know and love.

Edward Elric’s prosthetic arm is not only a replacement for his missing limb but also functions as a powerful weapon. His automail arm is made of a durable metal and can be used to enhance his physical strength. In addition to its strength, the arm serves as a shield and is bulletproof, providing Ed with a defensive advantage in combat.

4. Nicholas D. Wolfwood’s Punisher (Trigun)

Imagine a priest with a smoking habit and a gun holster strapped to his thigh. That’s Nicholas D. Wolfwood, a complex character from Trigun who defies expectations at every turn. He’s got a rough past riddled with violence, but now wanders the desert offering help and redemption.

Talking about weird anime weapons, this guy totes around a massive cross that’s more than just a religious symbol. Despite his calm and peaceful appearance as a pacifist priest, this cross unfolds to reveal an array of hidden weapons like firearms, missiles, and even a flamethrower.

3. Killua Zoldyck’s Yo-Yos (Hunter x Hunter)

Cool cat on the outside, assassin instinct within! Killua’s the friend you can count on, even if he hides it behind a cold stare. Not the main character, but a favorite among many Hunter x Hunter fans.

Growing up in an assassin family messed with Killua’s moral compass. He knows what’s right, but his past training sometimes pulls him in the wrong direction. It’s a compelling conflict that makes him more than just a one-dimensional character.

This skilled child assassin, is seen using special yo-yos infused with Nen in the Greed Island Arc. However, these aren’t your regular toys; they’re deadly. At 50 kg each, these yo-yos can either knock out opponents or deliver a lethal blow.

2. Kagura’s Parasol (Gintama)

Ever wondered how an alien chick with a sweet tooth would look? Kagura is the perfect answer to that question. Fans adore her for the witty and sometimes sassy remarks that reveal her vibrant and energetic nature.

She doesn’t shy away from expressing her feelings, whether it’s joy, anger, or even a tinge of vulnerability. Kagura isn’t afraid to be silly or messy, reminding us that it’s okay to embrace our imperfections and laugh at ourselves. And let’s not forget that she will always have your back, no matter what, even if it means facing down intergalactic threats.

Also, she rocks a purple parasol as her weapon. It does the job of keeping her shaded from the sun, a big deal for her Yato species. But here’s the twist – it’s not just for show. This parasol can shoot bullets like a machine gun!

1. Shizuku Murasaki’s Vacuum Cleaner (Hunter x Hunter)

It’d be odd if the vacuum cleaner didn’t take the prize, considering it’s one of the quirkiest weapons in anime. A cold member of the infamous criminal group, Shizuku conjures Blinky, an extraordinary vacuum cleaner that can suck up everything except living things and Nen objects. Even for Hunter x Hunter standards, it’s a rare ability to have.

However, Blinky isn’t just for cleaning up traces of the Phantom Troupe; it’s Shizuku’s primary method of combat. She ingeniously uses the vacuum cleaner to club her opponents, making it an unconventional yet effective weapon.
