Substance use has become a public health concern within the United States. In the United States, approximately 61.2 million individuals engaged in the use of a substance in 2021. (1) That same year, 46.3 million individuals, 12 years of age or older, were diagnosed with a substance use disorder. (2) Substance use disorders were found to be more prevalent in individuals ages 18 to 25.
