President Donald Trump will suspend the security clearances of the 51 national security officials who signed a letter falsely implying that the Hunter Biden laptop story was a “Russian information operation,” according to a report.
Trump plans to suspend their security clearances on day one, Fox Digital reported, citing a senior administration official.
In 2020, officials, including former Director of National Intelligence (DNI) James Clapper and former Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) Director John Brennan, signed a letter that claimed an email from Hunter Biden’s laptop provided to the New York Post “has all the classic earmarks of a Russian information operation.” (RELATED: Here Is What The Biden Family Has Been Up To Since 2014)

The Post first reported in 2020 how an email from Hunter’s laptop revealed he introduced then-Vice President Joe Biden to a senior executive at Burisma, the Ukrainian energy firm. Hunter sat on the board of the company at the time.
The Daily Caller News Foundation (DNCF) later verified with a forensic analysis that the email the Post reported on was completely authentic, according to a cybersecurity expert.
Despite the authenticity of the laptop also later being confirmed by multiple mainstream media outlets, the officials who signed it have not receded from the public eye. (RELATED: Deep State Officials Opposing Tulsi Gabbard’s Nomination Have Close Ties To Defense Contractors, Censorship Tools)
Several of them landed jobs in the Biden administration. Clapper, Brennan, and former CIA Operations Officer Paul Kolbe were selected in 2023 to serve on a Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Intelligence Experts Group.
Some of those officials have also advocated for expanding the intelligence community’s surveillance powers. In 2023, 46 former national security officials, including Clapper, signed a letter urging Congress to reauthorize section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA).
And THERE IT IS: “Trump to suspend security clearances for the 51 national security officials ‘who lied about Hunter Biden’s laptop ahead of the 2020 presidential election.’”
