I almost began my headline with “Flying Pigs Alert”… but I changed my mind. Here’s why:
Meta Platforms (formerly named Facebook Inc.) CEO Mark Zuckerberg certainly “leans” to the left, but the billionaire I’m sometimes fond of calling the mayor of Zuckerville because of his penchant for censoring conservative content on Facebook is far from stupid.
While leftism has ruled the roost on social media for years, President-elect Donald Trump’s seismic win over Vice President Kamala Harris in the 2024 presidential election sent shockwaves through the elitist leftist community, even if the toads on dying media outlets like CNN and MSNBC refused to admit it.
Harris’ campaign was the final straw, as she was repeatedly exposed as a San Francisco leftist and a complete fraud. Her selection of way-weird and even more left-wing Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz further sealed her fate, along with the fate of radical leftism, including DEI (diversity, equity, and inclusion), and voters from coast to coast, from north to south, decisively kicked the insanity to the curb.
More specifically, with respect to Facebook, Zuckerberg had to be concerned with what he saw happening to CNN and MSNBC as their ratings and viewership continued to swirl down the toilet, while their tone-deaf on-air “talent” continued to compare Trump to Adolf Hitler, outright call him a fascist, and compare his followers to Nazis. And that was only the beginning as the left howled at the moon, ad nauseam, about how Trump would toss his enemies into “concentration camps” and end democracy in America as we know it.
So, viewers tuned out. Ratings went down. Profits fell.
In a nutshell, Zuckerberg has apparently decided to read the obvious writing (righting?) on the left-wing wall and stop the bleeding on Facebook.
Incidentally, as a longtime user with a sizable following, I’ve been among those who have been “tossed into the Zuckerville gulag” for posting “offensive content” more times than I can remember. (Truth be told, I’ve always considered it a badge of honor.)

Here’s How It All Went Down
Meta announced it is ending its notorious fact-checking program and lifting restrictions on speech to “restore free expression” across Facebook, Instagram, and Meta platforms, finally admitting that its current content moderation practices have “gone too far.” Zuckerberg said in a video posted Tuesday morning:
We’re going to get back to our roots and focus on reducing mistakes, simplifying our policies and restoring free expression on our platforms. More specifically, we’re going to get rid of fact-checkers and replace them with Community Notes similar to X, starting in the U.S.
Joe Kaplan, Meta’s chief global affairs officer, was scheduled to appear on “Fox & Friends” Tuesday morning for an exclusive interview to discuss the changes. Prior to his appearance, Kaplan told Fox News Digital:
We went to independent, third-party fact-checkers. It has become clear there is too much political bias in what they choose to fact-check because, basically, they get to fact-check whatever they see on the platform.
Kaplan said Meta is “ending that completely” and will replace it with a “Community Notes” model similar to the one used on Elon Musk’s X (formerly, Twitter.) Why, do tell? Again, Zuckerberg’s not stupid.
Kaplan further explained that:
Instead of going to some so-called expert, it (community notes) instead relies on the community and the people on the platform to provide their own commentary to something that they’ve read. We think that’s a much better approach rather than relying on so-called experts who bring their own biases into the program.
Now that I think about it, the above admission by Meta (Zuckerberg) truly is a Flying Pigs revelation, albeit brought about by necessity rather than desire.
This is a developing story. RedState will provide updates as they become available.
