Catrice Cosmetics’s viral Instant Awake Under Eye Brightener ($6) has over 8,000 five-star reviews on Amazon for several reasons. First, the color-correcting concealer instantly camouflages bluish tones of dark circles. (Think of it like a shot of espresso for your under-eyes.) It’s also ultra-nourishing, thanks to a formula of shea butter and hyaluronic acid that smooths and hydrates skin. Plus, the product is a dream to blend, thanks to its light and flexible texture. Hate concealer that settles into fine lines and wrinkles? Instant Awake’s never heard of it.
Did we mention it’s $6?
Instant Awake adds new shades and setting powders
The Instant Awake Under Eye Brightener already proves concealers don’t have to be expensive to get the job done. Now, the wallet-friendly makeup just got even better. This month, Catrice Cosmetics launched two new shades of Instant Awake, Golden Toffee and and Dark Mocha. These new shades join the popular Light Rose and Warm Nude. There are also four new complementary Under Eye Brightener Setting Powders ($6 each). Its formula prevents creasing and boosts brightness to complete your eye transformation. The under-eye area goes from dark and tired to refreshed and nearly flawless.
Why Shoppers Are All in on Instant Awake
One shopper in her 60s with “blue veins under the eyes” that “can’t be covered with just foundation anymore” was so impressed they would “gladly” have “paid triple” the price. It’s “magic in a jar” raved another before adding, “I have tried expensive under-eye concealers ten times the price of this one that don’t work as well.” A new mom admitted “Dark circles are real these days,” but said Instant Awake “covers the purple” and they no longer get the “you look tired” remarks. Other fans called it “silky” and “great for mature skin.”
A Beauty Editor’s Honest Thoughts
I think drugstore makeup is some of the best, and Instant Awake only solidifies that belief. My go-to shade is one of the originals, Light Rose. If Golden Toffee and Dark Mocha are like Light Rose, both will effectively brighten the under-eye area in seconds. I like to use Instant Awake on the inner corners of my under-eyes, where the dark circles and hollows are most present. Then, I use a dot of my traditional concealer on the outer corners, where I don’t need as much brightening, and blend. (If I need more coverage than normal, I’ll go in with concealer first and then add Instant Awake on top—it sits really well with other makeup.) Even on days I don’t wear makeup, I’m wearing Instant Awake under my eyes because a tiny bit does the heavy lifting to make me look (and feel) refreshed.
