The Audiffred Building on the Enbarcadero across from the ferry terminals was built in 1889 and managed to survive the 1908 earthquake. It initially served as a seaman’s union hall, thus the tall ship icon over the entryway. It later served a number of maritime unions and associations, and currently houses a restaurant. In between, it’s had a somewhat seedy history, documented at foundsf.org/index.php?title=Audiffred_Building.
