The recent rise of social media finance influencers — known as “finfluencers” — is changing the investment landscape, including who’s investing, as well as where and how they get their financial information. Finfleuncers offer advice on stock investing, derivatives trading, personal finance, cryptocurrency, and savings strategies using social media platforms like YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram. They employ storytelling, conversational language, and accessible content that resonates with younger generations. Gen Z displays great appetite for financial risk, as many of them trade only in stock options to amplify their gains, and almost 40% of Gen-Zers rely on finfluencers for their information for investment decisions.
