Trump picks William Owen Scharf as White House staff secretary


President-elect Donald Trump selected St. Louis-based attorney William Owen Scharf to be the assistant to the president and the White House staff secretary on Saturday.

In a statement from the Trump-Vance transition team, Trump said Scharf is a “highly-skilled attorney” who “has played a key role in defeating the Election Interference and Lawfare waged against me, including by winning the Historic Immunity Decision in the Supreme Court.”

The position of staff secretary in the White House is largely a behind-the-scenes role but manages the paper flow to the president from other parts of the federal government.
