I just get more excited to see the Greens. Alicent and the kids are more interesting than Team Black, whose only compelling member is Rhaenyra :/

What a lot of people forget, hence their reason for hating on Alicent which is completely unjustified, is that as the audience, we get a broader level of insight into each and every characters private conversations and tend to forget that the other characters don’t. Let me explain:

When Rhaenyra and Viserys have their moment down by Balerion’s skull, Viserys tells Rhaenyra the classic story about Aegon’s dream and uniting the realm to fight against the enemy to the north. We know this story, and we have heard it loud and clear…

In another scene later on, during Aegons birthday celebration “the hunt” Viserys is standing by the fire, when alicent approaches him. She asks him what is bothering him and he breaks down sobbing about how he is harvesting so much guilt because he killed Rhaenyra’s mother. He shares that his ambition to have a son, was spurred on by a dream he had had years ago, where his son sits the iron throne after him. He also mumbled something about how the reason he still stands by his decision to name Rhaenyra as his heir is because of his guilt, and because he didn’t know he would remarry and have a son.

Cut to Viserys dying in his bed, Alicent is with him. Viserys in his disoriented state thinks she is Rhaenyra, and starts talking about Aegon. From what I remember, the key words he uses are: “Aegon, Aegon, the dream, to unite the realm”

Alicent is confused and tries to confirm with him multiple times if he is speaking of their son Aegon (understandable as when the name Aegon is used, she will automatically assume it’s her son) he continues going on about a dream to unite the realm… Alicent remembered Viserys dream of a son sitting the throne.

Hence the reason Alicent believes Viserys wanted Aegon to succeed him. Alicent is very purely trying to do the right thing. People argue she heard what she wanted to hear, and it’s her own ambition: but remember, even after Viserys’ death, the council wants Rhaenyra to be killed and Alicent defends her by saying it wouldn’t be what Viserys would’ve wanted.

Another point is that why would Viserys march all that way to defend Rhaenyra only to change his mind: because again, during Aegons birthday, the only thing that kept Rhaenyra as heir after Aegon was born, was his guilt. Alicent could easily interpret that he still wasn’t sure and when he kept repeating “the dream” she obviously thought of his dream of Aegon sitting on the throne.

I can and will defend Alicent for every single thing people call her bad for or evil or any insult. She’s not a bad person and I truly believe she’s trying her best in a world surrounded by men who manipulate her which results in her losing something each and every time 💚

I can't even say i'm Team Green cause i agree that the throne is Rhaenyra's, but i just find all the green characters so much more interesting even with the writing flaws 😂 i basically have to fight for my life whenever i talk about this show with anyone

black queen knows that this is wrong…she said in last scene i fear what i started …she cared for other…where in green trailer in last scene, to the war then…like he does not care what happens to normal people, what happens when dragon goes into war.

I'm team Tom Glynn-Carney

I knew him before this show already , saw him in a couple of films, but his roles weren't interesting enough, there weren't too much opportunity to show his talent.

Then I saw his first scene in HotD Ep8, how Aegon mentions to his mother that he would never live up to the expectations of his parents, although he tried to,. You can sense instantly how many layers both the character and also the actor have. Ep9 just confirmed that first impression, that he would be probably the most intriguing character and TGC has all the talets of the world to show this.

I can see why people compare Aegon to Joffrey. But Joffrey was made deliberately a one-dimensional character (of course, Jack Gleeson did a wonderful job with displaing this one-dimensionalness) Joffrey was a piece of sh*t without any self-awareness by default. He would have been in any other place, in any other social status, in any other family.

Meanwhile in Aegon's case, as you, too, said, there is that layer of a tormented little boy, who is unable to ask his mother directly: "Where were you when I went dark? Why didn't stop me? Why didn't anybody stop me?"

And here is a very exciting thing. From the point of view of the realm, it would be better/easier/simplier if he would hate to be a king, He would do the usual terrible things he used to, and the Council would reign in his name. But according to his last scene in the first season, he just realised that being a king is just fun and cool and he likes it. And that would make him a loose cannon, and possibly far worse than Joffrey ever was.

I am team black but tbh team green has interesting characters.

It's so wrong by saying Aegon as a villian because then we have to assume team black as heroes which they are not. Also if Aegon become a villain by raping a servant then what fan favourite Daemon is, he also killed his wife & done many more crimes. The point is all characters are grey it's just the way u see them. Also viserys raped alicent which they showed in the show as well, many targeryans have bastards including viserys & corlys are all born through mutual consent. So saying Aegon as a villain seems to be quite wrong argument just for justifying ur side.

Personally I’m Team Black 🖤 but I love that no matter what team you are the show has you just as engaged about the other side even if you’re not rooting for them.

Also maybe for the bar reactions you should divide the bar and say, “If you’re team green sit on this side and if you’re team black sit on this side.”
