The Record Companies submit their choices. Then all submissions are sorted into the right category and narrowed down to the top 5 candidates for each category. The winners are then voted on by The Recording Academy, which is made up is made up of music creators, such as artists, producers, songwriters, and engineers. They have very different views on music than fans do. I think they have a list of criteria also. It has to be newly released music and receive 50% playtime (whatever that means). There is a whole list of criteria. So many categories now, 25 different fields of music. There are more than 9000 voting members of the Academy. That is a LOT! No wonder the show is so long. 25 field of music, but they don't air all of it. There a lot of good artists up for awards in every category, so we shall see. For song of the year I would have picked I can do it with a Broken Heart, it gets more radio play but I have no idea what the voting group has for their "checklist", maybe radio play doesn't matter? Surprisingly though Fortnight IS the most streamed song from TTPD. Grammy's are not until Feb 2 2025. Taylor will get one or two, maybe 3, who knows.. Anyone remember Billie Eilish's first year at the Grammy's where she got every award she was submitted for? She had so many she couldn't hold them all LOL. She was only 19.
