Pelican recently returned with their first new material in five years by way of the EP Adrift / Tending The Embers. Though Pelican‘s productivity hardly ends there, as the band is working on their first new full-length record since 2019’s Nighttime Stories.
“Great news, friends,” wrote Pelican. “We have finished writing our seventh and possibly best album. There’s still a long road ahead of rehearsing, demoing, and recording, but we are so amped on what we’ve come up with and can’t wait to share. More to come.”
As mentioned before, Pelican recently released their new singles “Adrift” and “Tending The Embers”. The songs are also Pelican‘s first since reuniting with founding guitarist Laurent Schroeder-Lebec in 2022, and showcase a shift from their usual bombast to a more delicate approach. Though yeah, they’re still heavy when they wanna be. See the end of “Adrift” for evidence of that.
