The Black Dahlia Murder recently wrapped up recording their first new record with guitarist Brian Eschbach taking over vocal duties from the late and great Trevor Strnad, and their first with guitarist Ryan Knight since Abysmal in 2015. The new stuff was recorded by Mark Lewis, who recorded everything The Black Dahlia Murder did from Nocturnal in 2007 to Abysmal… and it’ll be here soon.
According to The Black Dahlia Murder guitarist Brandon Ellis, “there will be new music out sooner than you think.” At risk of sounding like a Spaceballs rehash, we’re really hoping “soon” is as close to now as humanly possible.
News of the new material originally broke back in November 2023 thanks to a post by The Black Dahlia Murder drummer Alan Cassidy, who said: “Literally just finished drums for [The Black Dahlia Murder] ALBUM X (10) and number 5 for me and to say I’m exhausted is an understatement. So pumped for you all to hear it. Very proud of what we’ve written and it is some of my favorite stuff we’ve done so far. I wish Trev could hear it because I think he’d be just as proud and excited if not more so.
“Huge thank you to [Mark Lewis] for recording and housing us all for the last 2 weeks and working his ass off making sure that these drums sounded nothing short of amazing. Very much looking forward to this and everything else to come in 2024.”
