Everything We Know About Miraculous Ladybug Season 6

Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir is a fascinating show to watch unfold. The series has a large following of all ages despite being a kids’ show, but there’s a simple reason for that: the show keeps people wanting more. Miraculous has a wealth of lore and potential that has yet to be explored, and even though the execution of these concepts can sometimes come into question, there’s no denying that the series is compelling.

With the fifth season changing the show forever, many wonder what might be next for the characters. Certain characters have died, a wish was made, and new Miraculous lore was introduced. Season 6 will hopefully address the many things the series has been dancing around, including Adrien’s status as a Sentimonster and the long-awaited hero reveal. However, with a series that has undergone so many changes throughout its lifespan, few things can be certain when it comes to Miraculous.

Updated on October 22, 2024 by Lauren Younkin: As the end of 2024 quickly approaches, fans of Miraculous Ladybug are no doubt curious about the release date of Season 6, which was initially estimated to come out this year. This article has been updated with the most current information available about Season 6’s release date as well as new developments in its production.

What Is Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir About?

Teenage Superheroes Work Together With No Clue About Each Others’ Identities

Miraculous is set in France and follows the life of student Marinette Dupain-Cheng, a normal girl who moonlights as a superhero. While Marinette experiences many average teenage moments, such as embarrassing herself in front of her crush or sharing hobbies with friends, she also carries the responsibility of the city’s safety on her shoulders. She is tasked with saving Paris on the daily as her superhero persona Ladybug, foiling Hawk Moth’s plans to turn citizens into villains using their negative emotions. However, Marinette doesn’t do this alone.

Alongside Marinette’s Ladybug is Adrien Agreste’s Cat Noir. Ladybug and Cat Noir don’t know each other’s identities, and this simple fact is one of the key factors that makes the show interesting. Miraculous is known for the iconic love square between the leads of the series, a variation of the love triangle trope. Marinette is in love with Adrien, but Adrien can’t reciprocate because he loves Ladybug, who in turn won’t consider Cat Noir because she’s in love with Adrien. Though it sounds rather complicated on paper, what it really all comes down to is that Marinette and Adrien love each other but just keep getting in the way of themselves.

The Miraculous Ladybug cast has many fans & they want to know all the little details about their favorite characters — even their ages.

Apart from the love square, the story also focuses on the power of the Miraculouses. Each Miraculous holds a Kwami, a magical species that grants the Miraculous holders powers of varying utility. Hawk Moth’s Kwami, Nooroo, is forced to aid his quest of terrorizing Paris in an attempt to take the Miraculouses of Ladybug and Cat Noir. Unbeknownst to the superheroes, Hawk Moth is Adrien Agreste’s father, Gabriel, who knows that using the Ladybug and Cat Noir Miraculouses together could grant him a wish. Gabriel lost his wife to the broken Peacock Miraculous, and has been chasing down those Miraculouses to reverse the harm done to her ever since.

Even though Gabriel’s quest is mostly a noble one, his execution caused pain and strife for the citizens of Paris. Not only that, but Adrien will definitely be affected by the revelation that his father is the villain he’s been fighting this whole time. Season 5 saw the end of Hawk Moth’s story, and while his reign of terror has ended, the avenues left open for Season 6 invite many new possibilities.

There Is Still No Concrete Release Date for Miraclous’ Season 6

After Season 5 came to a close, fans were already wondering when the next season would be released. With so many moving parts in the series, it’s understandable that there have been a few delays along the way. At MIPJunior on October 19, 2024, Miraculous Corp CEO Andy Yeatman stated that Season 6 will now be coming out in 2025, although an exact date is not known at this time. At the same event, a new poster was unveiled for the upcoming Season 6.

According to an announcement at LicensingCon, the release date for Season 6 was supposed to be in the 4th quarter of 2024. A poster at Annecy International Animation Film Festival further confirmed that Season 6 was meant for a debut in winter 2024, with a teaser trailer being shown off at the festival as well. Even before that, the series was meant to come out in the third quarter, but had been pushed back. Considering the massive changes to the show’s overall appearance, it’s no surprise that Season 6 may be taking a bit longer than initially expected.

The new season of Miraculous is now being animated using Unreal Engine, meaning there was a complete overhaul of the show’s production after Season 5. This change is being made to extend the lifespan of assets used for the series’ animation, as the previous assets used in the software Maya were becoming outdated. With Miraculous’ animation now being done in France instead of being outsourced to multiple studios, this will hopefully let them avoid confusion in the show’s release schedule as well. Though the wait seems a bit long, a lot of fans have been patient for certain arcs to come to light since the show’s debut in 2015. While there is no specific date set for the release of Season 6, fans are excited to discuss theories for the new era of the show.

The series usually doesn’t stray away from its main group of characters, and because of this the cast list usually remains the same. Both the French and English voice cast remain unchanged from Season 4. There have been cases, however, where different English voice actors have had to take over for well-known characters, such as Nino’s new voice actor Zeno Robinson. Outside of this change in Season 4, there have been no alterations to the voice cast since. Season 6 will welcome all the cast that fans have come to know and love, but Miraculous has also allegedly brought on some new crew members.

At the LicensingCon in 2023, a new writer for Season 6 was introduced to audiences by the name of Chloé Paye. Despite multiple people commenting on Paye’s arrival, there have been no official outlets highlighting her status as a new writer. IMDb has not added Paye to the writing credits yet. However, if her status as a new writer is true, her contribution to the show will be recognized during Season 6.

From Unveiling Hidden Truths to Exploring Revealed Secrets

Season 5 of Miraculous brought an end to Hawk Moth, but also foreshadowed the beginning of a whole new threat. While the first seasons of the series contain a lot of filler episodes, which were heavily criticized as being excessive by fans, the fifth season is full of plot-centric episodes back to back. For fans who have been waiting for the show to grow into the full potential of its premise, this season was a huge step in the right direction.

Season 5 confirmed the theory that Adrien Agreste is a Sentimonster — but he isn’t the only one. Adrien, his cousin Felix, and Kagami are all Sentimonsters. However, Adrien is unaware of this fact and only Felix, Kagami, and Marinette know. Adrien is also still unaware that his father was the famed villain, Hawk Moth. Potential story progression for Season 6 could include Adrien finally discovering the truth about himself and his family.

In addition, Miraculous is finally allowing a different villain to have a chance in the spotlight. The threat of Hawk Moth has always been present throughout the entirety of the series, but now that title will be taken up by someone new. Fans theorize the next Hawk Moth will be Lila since she is the one in possession of the Butterfly Miraculous. Whether her status as the local bully will morph into her becoming a full-blown supervillain remains to be seen, but the newest season could highlight her ascension to power and perhaps descension into madness.

The love square is far from solved, but there was finally development in Season 5 with Marinette and Adrien getting together at long last after 7 years, although this was only within a year’s span of time in the show. Fans are excited and hopeful that this has kick-started actual progression within their relationship as opposed to the numerous fake-outs the show has used thus far. However, Miraculous has often proved why this development wouldn’t be a good idea. From accidental reveals to the existence of Chat Blanc, Marinette and Adrien’s relationship has always seemed doomed.

Season 6 could confirm this to be the case, or it could start the countdown toward the final identity reveals. Since Miraculous is slated to have episodes up to a Season 7, the likelihood of a reveal happening in the sixth season is low but not impossible. With Adrien needing to find out about his family and a new villain afoot, the relationship aspect of the series might even take a backseat, especially now that Marinette and Adrien are in a good place.

Miraculous has previously been known to hop from channel to channel, with fans of all ages outside of Europe and France resorting to watching the early seasons of the show on foreign channels such as Brazil’s television channel, Gloob. However, Miraculous has finally found a home to settle into once and for all. Disney has become the platform of the series for those watching outside of Paris.

Disney+ houses every episode of Miraculous, from Season 1 to the upcoming sixth season and the confirmed seventh season that fans have also been promised. Disney+ is merely one home for Miraculous episodes, however, as Netflix also has Miraculous episodes up to Season 4 along with the non-canon Miraculous movie, the Miraculous World specials, and the Christmas special. The exciting part of Miraculous having confirmed places on streaming is that the show is now finally accessible for both the newer fans and the ones who have spent the last several years scouring the internet for the next episode.
