Andor Season 2 will finally explore how the bond between a rebel and his reprogrammed droid began.
In an Empire profile, lead actor Diego Luna discussed how the returning Star Wars show will pull back the curtain on Cassian Andor’s rebellion activities and how these missions link Cassian’s growth to his ultimate Rogue One: A Star Wars Story fate. “He’s a man fully committed to the Rebellion. It’s someone who has to ascend. There’s a huge mountain for him to climb in order to [become] the guy we meet in Rogue One,” he said.

Jude Law Addresses Concerns Over Star Wars ‘Haters’ Ahead of Skeleton Crew Debut
Lamenting the nature of “haters” in fandom culture, Jude Law discusses what this online hype means for Star Wars: Skeleton Crew’s upcoming release.
This includes the origin of Cassian’s friendship with Imperial droid K-2SO, a dynamic Luna admitted reflects the lonely nature of Cassian’s espionage job. As he explained, “From an audience perspective, they’ve probably made their own story about how Cassian and K-2 got to work together. It tells you a lot about Cassian that his best friend is a droid. And a droid he had to reprogram. But how did that actually happen and who was he before? Those questions are going to be answered.”
Those questions are going to be answered.
Despite establishing Cassian and K-2SO’s origin in a one-shot comic, it’s still unclear whether Andor Season 2 will incorporate aspects of that story into its timeline. Luna previously assured fans at D23 that the “stakes are greater” for Cassian and the Rebellion in Season 2, which will be broken into multiple year-long time-jumps detailing the scoundrel-turned-rebel spy’s life between Season 1’s finale and the start of Rogue One. Official Andor clips were publicly revealed this month in an ad for Disney+’s 2025 TV shows, teasing Cassian arguing with his handler and stealing a TIE Interceptor from an Imperial base as anti-Imperial unrest continues to flare up across the galaxy.

Star Wars: Andor Season 2 Reveals First Look at Rogue One Villain’s Return
A new look at Star Wars: Andor Season 2 reveals Rogue One star Ben Mendelsohn’s return as Orson Krennic.
An official synopsis for Andor Season 2 teased not only Cassian’s evolution “from soldier to leader to hero on the way to his epic destiny,” but also how his “story has activated an ever-widening ensemble of allies and enemies.” Amongst those enemies are ISB agent Dedra Meero and former Imperial deputy inspector Syril Karn, as well as returning Rogue One villain Orson Krennic. At D23, Disney confirmed that Ben Mendelsohn would reprise his role as Krennic — who also briefly voiced the character in an episode of The Bad Batch — while the actor recently teased internal conflict between Krennic and Meero in the lead-up to Rogue One‘s events.
Cassian Andor’s Story Will Be Told With Season 2
While Andor will close out Cassian’s story, Luna’s co-star Adria Arjona has shown interest in giving her rebel character, Bix Caleen, a future spinoff. Disney’s Star Wars lineup will continue in December with Skeleton Crew and, along with Andor‘s release, begin production on Ahsoka Season 2 sometime next year.
Andor Season 2 premieres on April 22, 2025 on Disney+.
