One of the best branches to extend out of the Jurassic World franchise has been the hit animated series about six campers stranded on a dino-infested island. Not only did Camp Cretaceous neatly tie itself to the larger franchise, but it helped redeem several storylines and characters who didn’t have their due time in the spotlight. Now, like its predecessor, Chaos Theory continues to tell the tales of the Nublar Six’s epic adventure as the true heroes of an extinct species.
It’s safe to say that Chaos Theory started with a dark tone, and as the story progressed, the viewers learned that there was something far more sinister at play. As the stakes got higher, so did the fear factor, and Season 2 definitely lived up to the franchise’s knack for dino jumpscares.
10 Brooklynn Posing With the Atrociraptor
Episode 5, Troubled Waters
After Brooklynn’s miraculous survival, she dedicates her efforts to finding The Broker. She uses the DLN to sneak a flight to Dubai, where she makes camp across the building where the mysterious person is supposedly running their operations from. When Brooklynn finally finds the opportunity to canvas the space, she’s met with none other than the ruthless Soyona Santos. Pretending to get along with Brooklynn’s fake story, Soyona forces her to pose for a portrait.
As a means to “inspire” her, Soyona demonstrates the control she exercised over her “pets,” the Atrociraptors, and intimidates Brooklynn by making her pose with a killer dino in her face. Brooklynn’s panic and fear make this scene an absolute nail-biter, as it’s almost impossible to imagine a scenario where Brooklynn could have made it out of there in one piece.
9 The Suchomimus Stalks Yaz
Episode 7, All Night Long
All Night Long is an absolute edge-of-the-seat episode and perhaps one of the best in the series. From the scare point of view, it’s as thrilling and fearsome as it could get because it’s all about surviving the worst. During the commotion of getting off the small island in one piece, Yaz is left behind all alone with the Suchomimus. The bloodthirsty predator not only killed one of the crew members, but it also devoured a hippo just like it was candy.

Jurassic World: Chaos Theory had some amazing dinosaur moments, from vicious Atrociraptor attacks to reanimating iconic scenes.
However, despite trying her hardest, Yaz becomes the dinosaur’s next target and barely escapes on a wooden plank in the river. The entire sequence where Yaz finally takes a sigh of relief as she sees the Suchomimus stop at the edge is absolutely terrifying because the next moment, both she and the viewers are terrified as the dinosaur takes a dip into the river. The Suchomimus relentlessly pursues her until she escapes into the forest.
8 Darius and Gang Barely Escape the Leucistic Baryonyx in its Pit
Episode 8, Lab Partner: Part 1
When the Nublar Six arrive at Soyona’s facility, they find it deserted. However, during their investigation, they come across the ship’s captain being chased by one of the Atrociraptors. Having no choice, Darius, Yaz, Sammy, and Zayna climbed down a pit and hid in the shadows. At first, it seemed odd that the raptor didn’t just jump in after them, but they soon realized that the Atrociraptor didn’t need to finish the job at all.
As the gang curled up in the shadows, their heart sank with fear as a more terrifying creature emerged from the shadows. The suspense and tension in this scene are unbearable as the audience is introduced to the Leucistic Baryonyx and experiences the wrath of its heightened senses firsthand. The gripping tension of whether Darius and the others could even make it to the ladder would put anyone on edge.
7 Brooklynn’s Traumatic Encounter with the Dinosaurs
Episode 3, C13v3rGr186
Chaos Theory Season 1 built its plot upon Brooklynn’s death, which was shrouded in mystery. Fortunately, Season 2 opened with much-needed background details, including Brooklynn’s grizzly encounter with the Allosaurus and the Atrociraptors. She was tipped off by Ronnie that she was headed to a trap, but it was too late. The flashback shows Brooklynn being chased off by Alociraptors and later cornered by the Allosaurus.
With no way out, the dinosaurs attack her, and she ends up passing out. It’s later revealed that she tragically lost her arm, but besides the obvious fear factor, the reminder of that traumatic incident is also terrifying. Despite Brooklynn being a headstrong girl, the series makes it a point to highlight her panic and fear whenever she finds herself in a similar situation.
6 The Gang Falls On A Rogue Hippo’s Radar
Episode 6, Up The River
After Chaos Theory Season 2, it’s evident that dinosaurs aren’t the only threat in the wild. For the first time, the Nublar Six were up against a beast not from the Cretaceous era, and it gave the gang a run for their money. When Darius and the others were traveling upriver, they came face to face with a hippo in a bad mood, who relentlessly chased them for the remainder of their journey.
The gang encounters deadly beasts other than the dinosaurs while traveling upriver.
While their first encounter was a close call, the second one almost resulted in Kenji in the hippo’s mouth. Despite their seemingly slow and calm appearance, hippos can be highly territorial and act extremely aggressively towards outsiders. Their powerful jaws can crush bone, and that’s what Kenji avoided when Ben pulled him at the last minute.
5 Dimorphodon in the Night Are Not For the Faint of Heart
Episode 7, All Night Long
It’s safe to say that most of the scariest scenes in Chaos Theory Season 2 belonged to All Night Long because it was one epic, nail-biting, and edge-of-the-seat story arc. It was every person’s worst nightmare, and Yaz had to live through it all alone. After narrowly escaping from the Suchomimus, Yaz finds a flashlight and decides to climb high enough to signal the others.

The action-packed second season of Jurassic World: Chaos Theory confirms why the wily Brooklynn joined the most terrifying villain of the franchise.
However, the light attracts a pack of hungry Dimorphodons, who come at her from every direction. The most fearful part of the entire scene is the jumpscare when Yaz points the flashlight in front of her and finds two raging Dimorphodons getting ready to chow on her. Not only does she fail to signal her friends, but her cover is also blown, allowing the Suchomimus to continue its pursuit of her.
4 Camp Fam Barely Escape the Atrociraptor and Baryonyx Duo
Episode 10, Reunion
Chaos Theory Season 2’s final act is a stomach-churning affair as the Nublar Six get trapped in a confined space with two bloodthirsty killers. Soyona leaves the Nublar Six to her Atrociraptor and its new partner, the Baryonyx, as she deliberately cuts the power to level up the Baryonyx’s heightened senses. The heart-pounding scene involves the helpless Camp Fam running around the facility with no exit in sight and finding vicious predators at every turn.
The tension and thrill in the final sequence are electrifying, especially just when the viewers must have thought that this was it: help arrived. As her last act of loyalty, Brooklynn activates the fire alarm, distracting the Baryonyx and giving the others a chance to narrowly escape.
3 Yaz Recreates Jurassic Park’s Most Iconic Scary Scene
Episode 7, All Night Long
Both Camp Cretaceous and Chaos Theory cleverly left no opportunity to subtly incorporate the original franchise’s iconic scenes into the storyline. Surprisingly, Chaos Theory offered a trip down memory lane with Yaz’s attempt to outrun the Suchomimus. After the Dimorphodons wake the beast up, it continues to chase after Yaz, and she desperately finds shelter in the abandoned bar. She hides behind the counter as the Suchomimus sniffs around, lurking confidently as a predator about to snag its prey.
Although not exclusively, the scene looks exactly like the iconic raptors in the kitchen scene where the Lockwood kids were hiding. Despite the difference in medium, Chaos Theory does an impressive job of channeling the right balance of fear and anticipation as the one experienced in the original scene.
2 The Atrociraptor Communicating With The Leucistic Baryonyx
Episode 10, Reunion
Jurassic World: Chaos Theory Season 2 lived up to the animated series’ celebrated trend of elevating the dinosaurs’ role as more than catalysts of instilling fear. The series has ensured that the viewers could regard the dinos as entities with personality or intelligence of sorts. This is best portrayed in an interesting scene in Chaos Theory Season 2’s finale as Dr. Saar tries to showcase his asserting dominance over his creation, the Leucistic Baryonyx, by snapping his fingers as a trigger to follow his command.

That was the last anyone saw of the mad scientist.
1 Darius vs the Majungasaurus Takes The Scare Factor To A Maximum
Episode 1, Batten Down The Hatches
One of the most spectacular scenes in Chaos Theory Season 2 that’s a definite “throw your popcorn” moment is Darius’s cat-and-mouse game with the Majungasaurus. When Darius and company realize that the power outage has let loose a Majungasaurus, who had already killed its fellow inmate, a panic ensues. Fortunately, as always, Darius finds a way to lure the vicious creature back to its cage and uses a prerecorded cry of another Majungasaurus to distract the real one from eating the crew.
He draws it out to the open, and in a deafening silence, when Darius puts up the phone to lure it again, the ferocious creature is already towering over him. If it weren’t for pure dumb luck, Darius would have been dino dinner. The suspense and jumpscare in this scene prove that CC and Chaos Theory have always understood the assignment when it comes to the scare factor.
