3 Unhinged MTV Reality Dating Shows From The 2000s That Would Never Be Made Today

If you thought “Love Is Blind” was innovative, you clearly never watched “Room Raiders.” Here are three truly unhinged MTV reality dating shows from the 2000s that would never be made today.

1. Room Raiders (2003-2009)

Room Raiders was an MTV reality show with a simple premise: one single contestant would judge three others based on their bedrooms and would use their assessment to choose who they wanted to go on a date with. Factors including cleanliness, organization, decor, whether the bed was made, etc. Oh, but that’s not all; the three potential dates also got to snoop through the raider’s room too. At the end, the raider and three potential dates come face to face and the single raider decides who they want to ask out.

2. Next (2005-2008)

Next was true mayhem and it was honestly amazing. Here’s how it went down: one contestant goes on up to five blind dates (known as “the daters”). The catch is that the contestant can end the date whenever they want, without warning, simply by saying, “Next!” The other catch is that the daters will earn $1 for every minute they last on the date.

3. Date My Mom (2004-2006)

Date My Mom was the weird show where single people between the ages of 18 and 24 would go on three separate dates with three different moms. On these dates, the mothers would attempt to convince the single person to date their son or daughter. Yeah. It was weird.
