Released toward the peak of the original Generation 1 toy line, the classic action figure for the Autobot Metroplex was one of the largest Transformers toys ever. Now, a noticeably smaller version is being released by third-party toy company Dr. Wu, recreating the G1 character in a super-deformed manner.
DW-E54 Iron Fortress is a chibi version of Generation 1 Metroplex, complete with many of his classic features. These include the smaller robots that the original toy was packaged with, who are also given super-deformed new figures. Releasing in both a familiar and “evil” variation, the figure is still in the prototype stage, but something that Transformers fans will want to keep an eye on.

A Third-Party Transformers Is One of the Smallest Takes on One of the Biggest Autobots
Based heavily on the Generation 1 Metroplex Titan class action figure from the classic toy line The Transformers, DW-E54 Iron Fortress is an unexpected marvel of toy engineering. Despite being much smaller than the toy it’s based on, the figure can transform from Metroplex’s recognizable robot mode into his mobile station mode and his Autobot City mode. As in G1, Metroplex has two red rifles and similar antennae on his shoulders, with these also able to be posed in his alternate modes. He also comes with equally small figures for Scamper, Slammer and Six-Gun. However, unlike their original figures, these three Autobot drones are all fully transformable, turning into a Cybertronian car, a Cybertronian tank and a Cybertronian jet, respectively.
DW-E54 Iron Fortress also has the ability to turn into a cube-like object, similar to the toy franchise Beast Box by 52TOYS. This recalls the same additional alternate mode given to Dr. Wu’s DW-E14 Energy Dragon, a diminutive recreation of Metroplex’s Decepticon rival, Trypticon. DW-E54 Iron Fortress will even have a release in the color scheme of the evil “Shattered Glass” Metroplex, based on the Decepticon clone Metrotitan. The toys can now be preordered on sites such as TF Source, with the collectibles retailing for $59.99 and set to be released in February 2025.
