Apple has issued a new security warning for iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple Watch users globally. This warning has also been echoed by the Indian government through its security agency this week. The Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) classified this alert as high-risk in its May 20 security bulletin.
The warnings advise users to be vigilant against potential intrusive attacks from bad actors and prompt them to update their software immediately.
CERT-In Security Warning for Apple Devices: Key Details
The CERT-In warning underscores the significant risk posed by security vulnerabilities affecting users of iPhones, iPads, MacBooks, Apple Watches, and even Apple TVs. ‘Multiple vulnerabilities were identified in Apple products. A remote attacker could exploit some of these vulnerabilities to trigger elevation of privilege, sensitive information disclosure, security restriction bypass, and remote code execution on the targeted system,’ states the bulletin.

If you own any of the following Apple devices with the specified software versions, it’s crucial to update your device promptly:
- Apple iOS and Apple iPadOS Versions prior to 16.7.8
- Apple iOS and iPadOS: Versions prior to 17.5
- Apple macOS Monterey: Versions prior to 12.7.5
- Apple macOS Ventura: Versions before 13.6.7
- Apple macOS Sonoma: Versions before 14.5
- Apple watchOS: Versions prior to 10.5
- Apple Safari and Apple tvOS prior to 17.5
How to Update Software on Your Apple Device
- Go to Settings.
- Navigate to General.
- Select Software Update.
- Install the latest available version from Apple.
