Check out the backer-exclusive Caza prints from the ARKADI AND THE LOST TITAN Kickstarter

Franco-American publisher Humanoids is set to launch its first Kickstarter this week as part of its 50th anniversary celebration, and it’s releasing a massive title via the crowdfunding giant. On Wednesday, readers can back the project for the first-ever English publication of Arkadi and the Lost Titan by writer and illustrator Philippe Cazaumayou AKA Caza. 

In addition to celebrating Humanoids’ 50th anniversary, this publication will also commemorate the 35th anniversary of the release of Arkadi: Book 1 in France. The story takes place on Earth in year 10,000 of the Mass Era after the planet has stopped rotating. While half of the world plunges into a dark ice age, the other becomes a bright hell pit.

The eponymous son of a sorceress and a warrior, Arkadi, begins his Trial of Purification only to venture out on an unexpected journey to find a missing Titan cyborg. It’s a far bigger, more expansive survival test than he could have predicted, and it could change everything.

“Arkadi and the Lost Titan is Caza’s longest and most complete work and it’s a thrill to introduce this seminal work to a wider audience in the States,” said Humanoids publisher Fabrice Giger. “This wide-ranging saga has been stuck in purgatory for decades for technical reasons, but through a process of thoughtful and painstaking restoration, the original negative films have been salvaged and are currently undergoing a scanning and digitization process, allowing the release of this magnum opus in its entirety, and the way it was meant to be experienced.”

In addition to the prints above, the Kickstarter campaign will include standard and deluxe omnibus editions of the 528-page Arkadi and the Lost Titan saga, translated into English by Montana Kane, as well as a slipcover, a collector’s edition featuring a signed Caza print, and the prints above.
