Yakuza Fiancé Episode 4, “Is He Smart of Stupidl” Recap and Spoilers

Yakuza Fiancé‘s fourth anime episode, “Is He Smart or Stupid” aired on October 28, 2024. In this episode, a budding love triangle slowly begins to blossom. Kirishima grows possessive of his fiance, desperate to keep Yoshino’s eyes only on him. However, jealousy may lead to a new development between this odd pair of lovers.

The episode picked up where episode 3 left off. Shouma smokes a cigarette outside the hotel room where Yoshino is currently resting. As he’s smoking, Kirishima walks up and introduces himself. However, this isn’t the first time the two have met.

A Love Triangle Brings Confrontation

Shouma and Kirishima Can’t Stand Each Other

Kirishima has arrived to take Yoshino home since it’s late. However, Shouma demands to know how Kirishima found them. He asks if he’s been following them. Kirishima gives a non-comittal answer, saying that he might have been. Kirishima may antagonize Shouma, but he insists he has no intentions to pick a fight with her family. After all, if he became Yoshino’s husband, that would make Kirishima Shouma’s brother-in-law, a thought Shouma hates.

However, Kirishima isn’t acting under anyone’s orders. He knows Gaku brought Yoshino to Tokyo to manipulate him, but that’s fine because he plans on manipulating his granduncle as well. Plus, so long as he does what Boss Somei asks, Yoshino will stay in Tokyo with him. She’s so irreplaceable to Kirishima that he can’t help but love her.

A fight seems ready to break out, but Yoshino comes rushing outside at the right moment. She asks Kirishima what he’s doing there. He simply replies that he’s here to take her home because it’s gotten so late. However, Yoshino is aware that Kirishima knew her location somehow and asks how he’s tracking her. Kirishima cloned Yoshino’s phone to keep an eye on her. Yoshino simply wishes he’d just asked where she was instead.

The stakes are getting higher as tensions and turmoil enter the fray.

Yoshino is ready to walk away with Kirishima, but Shouma grabs her arm. He says maybe it’s better Yoshino return to Osaka with him after all. According to him, Kirishima isn’t right in the head. Kirishima grabs Yoshino’s other arm, asking if she really plans to leave him. She’s annoyed, but Kirishima doesn’t seem to mind, insisting that he’s the best person for her to marry.

Shouma gets angry and calls Kirishima a stalker, but he doesn’t seem to mind. Yoshino has also called him a stalker, but she hasn’t returned to Osaka yet. Kirishima tells Shouma that an outsider like him doesn’t get to have an opinion. This irritates Yoshino. She tells Kirishima to watch his mouth because Shouma is family. If anyone is an outsider, it’s Kirishima.

Kirishima apologizes to Yoshino for going too far. Yoshino then turns her attention to Shouma. She appreciates his concern, but she has things handled from here. Yoshino tells Shouma to head to bed early so he can make the trip back to Osaka.

He May Be Like Family, but Shouma Harbors Deeper Feelings Than That

The next day, Yoshino hurries to the station to see Shouma off. Kirishima isn’t with her because she didn’t tell him he was leaving. She recognizes that Shouma has never liked guys like Kirishima, but asks what he thinks of him anyways. Shouma replies that Kirishima is crazy.

Yoshino can’t help but agree with that assessment, but she can’t go back to Osaka yet. Kirishima has too much of an advantage. Yoshino needs to find a way to beat him.

Shouma doesn’t understand why Yoshino is willing to give up her own life before her pride of breaking the rules she set for herself. Yoshino replies that if she doesn’t have her pride or honor, then she has nothing. In fact, she may as well be dead. Shouma points out that that sounds exactly like something Yoshino would say, but he could never personally risk his life like she’s doing.

Yoshino asks what he would risk his life for. His answer is immediate: he points to Yoshino. However, he then says she has a bug in her head. He pulls whatever it is from her red hair, only to realize it isn’t a bug. It might be a crumb, but it’s more likely it’s some sort of tracking device.

Shouma tells Yoshino that she’s free to die or do whatever else she wants, but not to go overboard. He plans to figure out what the boss is up to when he returns to Osaka. There’s something they don’t know yet and Shouma plans to figure it out.

Shouma hugs Yoshino and tells her he’ll drop by again. Yoshino tells him to attend his classes. Shouma says he’ll do what he can, and Yoshino replies that she’ll try to stay on her toes too. It’s then revealed that Kirishima was there the whole time, watching from a distance.

Kirishima’s Dark Side Rears Its Ugly Head

It’s another school day, and the train is crowded. Kirishima is pushed so close to Yoshino she can smell him and feel his body heat. She asks if he’s okay, but Kirishima replies he’s trying to stay aware of his surroundings in case anyone tries to kill Yoshino. If she ends up dead, he’ll be killed too.

Yoshino then points out this is her first time riding in such a crowded train. It reminds her of riding in her family car to get to school, except her first day of middle school, when she walked to school with Shouma. Kirishima gets angry upon hearing this, and Yoshino can tell immediately. However, when she looks up at him, Kirishima is smiling again, asking what’s wrong. He won’t give his true feelings away so easily.

At school, Yoshino can’t help but feel she felt that cold reception from Kirishima before. She then remembers it was from when she first got to Tokyo and first felt something was off about Kirishima at school. She hopes he’s not bored of her again because that would be a pain to deal with.

Yoshino then realizes she hasn’t really been doing anything to make Kirishima fall for her. She pulls out her phone to search for ways to keep Kirishima interested. The Internet advises ther to be less clingy and obnoxious, and to interact with men other than Kirishima. Yoshino decides that that answer is no help at all.

Shortly after, Shouma texts her to talk about a free ice cream sundae he was able to eat. Yoshino tells him to study before noticing Kirishima running outside for gym class. He looks up at her before continuing on his run.

Kirishima Is Never Going to Get Bored of Yoshino if She Stays the Way She Is

That evening, Yoshino admires herself in a nice outfit in the mirror. She regrets that it probably won’t fit next year. She can’t help but feel that packing up her colder weather clothes feels like moving. She wonders if she could head back to Osaka if she just packed everything up, but quickly changes her thoughts to reorganizing her things.

Yoshino wishes Kirishima was more predictable and states that he just ends up irritating her. When she opens the door to her porch, Kirishima is there, asking what she’s mad about. Apparently, he’d come by to give her a delivery from Osaka.

Kirishima notices the boxes and asks if Yoshino is leaving. She’s not. She’s just going through her wardrobe since summer has arrived. Yoshino gets a bad feeling like the one from that morning, possibly even worse.

Yoshino asks Kirishima if he’s doing this on purpose and if he wants to kill her. He seems surprised and tells her he’s not. Yoshino asks Kirishima what his problem is, but he has no problems with her. She asks if he’s bored of her again, but the thought hadn’t even entered his mind.

Finally, Yoshino realizes this may be related to Shouma. Kirishima isn’t sure if he’s mad because of him. He’s never hated anyone before, but he can’t be sure.

Yoshino changes the question by asking what Kirishima would do if she went out with Shouma. He tells her it would be great, but he’d have a stipulation. Yoshino can be with whoever she wants and Kirishima won’t mind, but he wants her to do anything romantic or sexual in front of him. She can even tie him up if she wants. However, once everything is over, he’ll kill the other guy, making sure the carrot and stick remain balanced.

Yoshino is horrified and asks Kirishima what he’s talking about. Is he out of his mind? Shouma may just be family, but Yoshino is horrified that Kirishima really would kill him if they started dating. Kirishima points out that they’re too close for family, despite Yoshino’s protests.

Yoshino wonders if Kirishima might be jealous of Shouma. Kirishima hadn’t considered that possibility but, now that he has, he feels like he’s going crazy from jealousy. Yoshino is so surprised she needs to sit down. She asks if Kirishima is being serious. He really is crazy.

He kneels down before her so they can be at a similar eye level and asks if she should become normal then. He can be her ideal normal guy if she simply tells him what she wants. He’s willing to try for her sake. However, this only seems to irritate Yoshino more. She can’t believe he’d be willing to turn his own life upside down just to please a girl.

In order to be fair, Yoshino decides to tell him the truth about her plan. In a year, she’ll ditch him and return to Osaka. However, on the off chance she falls for him in that year, she’ll stay in Tokyo. Knowing Kirishima, he probably could act like her ideal man, but that wouldn’t make her fall for him. He asks what he needs to do. Yoshino replies that, if pretending to be normal is the alternative, she’d rather Kirishima acts like the “craziest bastard in the world” instead.

Kirishima breathes out a sigh. He was worried he’d get bored of Yoshino someday, but her outburst proved him wrong. So long as Yoshino never changes who she is, he’ll never stop loving her. Yoshino tells him that he’s crazy, but he thanks her and states this is their first step towards marriage.

Talking to Kirishima is giving Yoshino a headache. All she wants is to change and have dinner. Kirishima offers to make dinner while she changes, but Yoshino tells him to go back to his own room.

A Summer Cold Hits Like a Truck

Yoshino’s Sickness Brings Out a Softer Side of Kirishima

The next day, Yoshino wakes up with a fever of 37.2 degrees Celsius. Unfortunately for her, she gets sick every summer, so she decides to take the day off school. She texts Kirishima about this and lays back down.

Three minutes later, he’s at her door, out of breath and with a bag of sports drinks to keep her hydrated. Kirishima may have been over a kilometer away when he got her message, but he ran back to help her. Kirishima offers to get Yoshino some gelatin or yogurt, but Yoshino insists he’ll be late if he buys anything else for her. She assures him she’ll feel better if she just gets some rest and refuses to go to the hospital.

Yoshino insists that Kirishima go to school and that she’ll message him if anything does happen. He tells her he’ll message her every hour. All she needs to do is make sure his messages are marked as read. If Yoshino needs anything, all she needs to do is let him know and he’ll rush back. Yoshino insists he’s a real handful.

At school, Kirishima tries to call Yoshino. She said her fever had gone up earlier, but she hadn’t read his texts or replied recently. He decides to leave early to check on her, but gets pulled away from his plans to deal with yakuza business at a local brothel.

That night, Kirishima deals with the case of one of the Higashi family’s men who has run off with the boss’s girl with the help of Tachibana. Kirishima wants to get this sorted quickly so he can get back to Yoshino. After threatening the brothel owner, Kirishima asks if he knows of any good hospitals that see patients overnight. Kirishima is determined to get Yoshino the help she needs.

Kirishima calls Inamori to help take him and Yoshino to the hospital. He then bundles Yoshino up in blankets and carries her to the car. They ride in Inamori’s car to the hospital with Yoshino’s head in his lap. Kirishima then repositions her to hold her in his arms.

Boss Somei Is Up to Something

Kirishima Contacts Yoshino’s Grandfather with an Update

The next day, Kirishima calls Boss Somei to let him know his granddaughter’s fever has broken. The boss tells Kirishima he appreciates him looking out for Yoshino all the time. He recognizes that Yoshino may be giving Kirishima a hard time, but Kirishima isn’t complaining. He gets the feeling that Yoshino will stay with him for the whole year.

Boss Somei states that Yoshino takes after him in the weirdest ways, before asking Kirishima to continue looking after his grandfather. Kirishima agrees. He’ll do whatever it takes. After all, that was part of the deal they made. Shouma watches Boss Somei’s car drive away as the episode ends.
