I think Mary Kubica is the queen of the twist and this book was no exception. I was reading this mystery/thriller and then it just hit me! I feel like I should have known it was coming but I just didn’t. This one will definitely get your heart going.
Meghan Michaels is an ICU nurse who has a 16 year old daughter, Sienna and is recently divorced. Her ex-husband, Ben, has joint custody but she has some bad feelings for him. Meghan is assigned a patient who arrives in a coma after jumping from a bridge. We find out the patient’s name is Caitlin and her parents arrive to stand guard to see if she improves.
Meghan tries to stay unattached to Caitlin, but befriends the family anyway. She can’t help but hear things and get involved in Caitlin’s story and life. Then a witness comes forward and questions start on if Caitlin really did jump or was it something else?
Should Meghan be so involved in Caitlin’s story? Is she only endangering her and her daughter by becoming so enmeshed into Caitlin and her family’s story?
This was a pulse-pounding good thriller. I LOVED the twist! I was only slightly dissatisfied with a few parts of the bridge scene, which I can’t get into too much without giving anything away, but still this was a great thriller. Mary Kubica has a great mind and her writing ability is so advanced at how she can plot this kind of twisted story up!
