COVID-19 select subcommittee demands Fauci’s personal records over ‘secret back channel’

The House Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic requested access to Dr. Anthony Fauci’s personal email and phone records.

In a post on X, committee members justified their request by suggesting they believe the records may uncover wrongdoing from Fauci and his team, specifically that he used a backchannel to hide information from Freedom of Information Act requests.

“New evidence suggests that Dr. Fauci used a ‘secret back channel’ to communicate about official COVID-19 information,” committee members said, attaching documents supporting their theory.

The theory comes from an email sent by Fauci’s senior adviser, Dr. David Morens, who reportedly referenced a “‘secret’ back channel” in emails uncovered by the committee.

Fauci served as the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases from 1984 to 2022, and he was one of the lead members of the White House Coronavirus Task Force during the earliest days of the COVID-19 pandemic.
