This tool can be opened in Sage 50 Accounting or in the Sage 50 Accounting folder within the Windows Start menu. The Company File Check & Repair also works automatically to scan the company’s data when you upgrade Sage 50 Accounting or restore your company from a backup file.

The Company File Check & Repair can operate in two modes: Basic and Advanced. Both these modes work by removing the corrupted files, however the Advanced check also removes any orphaned files that it has detected

Note: The Advanced mode is a more detailed scan and can take a couple of minutes to complete if you have a large file.

When You Upgrade or Restore

Sage 50 Accounting runs the Company File Check & Repair Basic tool before you start to upgrade the database to make sure that your company can be converted. In case there are any complicated tasks needed to complete the upgrade, the Advanced tool will run that automatically.

When trying to run the Company File Check & Repair from within Sage 50 Accounting, then it opens within Advanced mode.

If you try to open the Company File Check & Repair from the Start menu, you need to select the file you wish to scan and which version of the tool you wish to use : Basic or Advanced.

There are two ways by which a user can access the Company File Check & Repair tool:

With in Sage 50 Accounting

In this case, you need to:

  • Go to the Home window within the Maintenance menu
  • Now select Advanced Database Check

Without opening Sage 50 Accounting

  • Go to the Windows within the Start Menu
  • Next select All Programs
  • Click on Sage
  • Next click on Sage 50 Accounting, followed by Company File Check & Repair.
  • With in Company Data File, click Browse to select the file you wish to scan.
  • Finally Select the type of scan you wish to do.

Caution! The advanced mode is a more detailed scan and can take a longer scanning time when it come to the larger files.

How to Use the Company File Check & Repair (Sage_SA_DBVerifier.exe)?

In order to do this, you need to:

  • Ensure that Sage 50 is open.
  • Navigate to File
  • Click on Properties
  • Next note the name and the location of your file.
  • Shut down Sage 50.
  • Click on the Windows Start button.
  • Now Select Programs
  • Click on Sage, then Sage 50 that corresponds to the version that is currently being used.
  • Next click on Company File Check & Repair.
  • Once the next window appears click on the browse button and go to the location you have noted earlier.
  • Once you locate the file, double click on the company file with the .sai extension.
  • Incase there is no file extension, double click on the file without the extension.The file should be 1kb in size and file type is called Sage 50 Data File.
  • Now click on the option for Advance check & repair.
  • You need to wait a while as this takes a couple of moments according to the size of your file.
  • Once the utility starts working, if it will find errors and it will prompt you to fix them.
  • Next Click Yes to fix.
  • After the task is complete, you will observe the Company File Check & Repair window again. 
  • The Company File Check & Repair is now completed and can be closed with the close button X.
