A Mitcham home is a fantastic entertainer and, with a versatile floorplan, has wide appeal to a range of buyers.
Shane and Stephanie Maraun are selling Stephanie’s late mother Ruth Chapman’s home at 5 Arcadia Court, saying she absolutely loved her time there and took great delight in sharing it with family and friends.
“She bought it seven years ago and just fell in love with that view immediately,” Mr Maraun says.
“She lived in Sydney and had a view of the Harbour and later came back to Adelaide and had a place in the Hills for a while.
“She eventually sold that to move to the suburbs and that view really hooked her instantly. “That view over the city is a real wow factor, especially at night, and she really liked that this place was close to the local shopping centre, and near some great schools – not that she really focused on that, but she had grandkids at Scotch and they were able to walk to her place, which was really special.
“It was just her there, but she always had a lot of people over as she loved to entertain. My sister-in-law lives in America and when they would come over they would stay downstairs and they found it very spacious.”

Here’s your chance to mix business with pleasure
Almost brand new when Mrs Chapman bought it, she has since placed her own touches on the five-bedroom, four bathroom home, including updating the ensuite, giving it a fresh coat of paint, modernising lighting, adding a fireplace, a solar system, blinds and shutters; and updating the look of the facade.
“It really is a fantastic home and whoever buys it can simply move in and enjoy it,” Mr Maraun says.
“It’s a great entertainer too. In summer we all sit out the back and take in the view. We’d always have Christmas out there and we can be up top and the kids would be on the lawn below and we can watch over them – it’s great.
“We’d have 30 to 40 people there and there was plenty of space for us all.”
With large rooms and living areas on both levels, Mr Maraun says the home would be ideal for a range of buyers.
“Given its size and location, it would be a really good family home,” he says.
“That said, it would be a fantastic home for retirees or a professional couple looking to be near one of the great schools nearby.
“My mother-in-law loved to travel, and this place really is ‘lock up and leave’, so it would be great for anyone looking for that lifestyle.
“It’s nice to think someone now gets to fall in love with it like she did and love it like she has.”
The property is for sale through Alexander Real Estate.
