A Cairns home still bearing the scars of post-Cyclone Jasper flooding has hit the property market, complete with waterlogged kitchen, mud-stained walls and abandoned furniture.

The property at 27 Oak St, Holloways Beach, is for sale for offers over $400,000.

James Gilbertson, of LJ Hooker Cairns Beaches, is marketing the three-bedroom, one-bathroom home as a “blank canvas for renovators”

However, the local real estate agent is not shying away from the realities of the property, which is being sold “as is”.

“(The house) has not been renovated, fixed or cleaned since the (one in one hundred year) flooding event following Cyclone Jasper,” Mr Gilbertson’s listing said.

“The house seems solid with a full block brick construction for inside walls and outside walls.

“The floor tiling throughout looks to still be in good condition.

“The roof seems watertight but it will need a new roof and gutters.

“The kitchen will need replacing.”

The property is also in need of a good clean out and scrubbing, while the chipboard shelving in the laundry and bathroom is beyond salvage, and so too are the internal and external doors.

“The wardrobes in the three bedrooms seem to have withstood the flooding but you be the judge of that,” the listing said.

On the upside, the home is on a generous 713sq m block backing onto a lake.

The house has spacious bedrooms, plenty of undercover outdoor space and potential for reconfiguration to create a more modern layout.

Mr Gilbertson said the property offered the opportunity to create a unique home in the vibrant community of Holloways Beach, known for its laid-back atmosphere and bohemian vibe.

“The suburb is home to a variety of local cafes, shops and restaurants that celebrate the eclectic and artistic spirit of the area,” he said.

The property is close to the beach, 10 minutes from Cairns Airport and 15 minutes from the Cairns CBD.
