Amazon Recommends Using AWD for Prime Day Optimization

How do sellers know how much inventory to send to Amazon in advance of Prime Day? If they send too much, they’ll be charged storage fees, if they send too little, they will lose out on the opportunity to generate more sales.

In an email this week, Amazon pitched sellers on using its AWD (Amazon Warehousing & Distribution) logistics service to ensure they’re ready for this year’s Prime Day shopping event, usually held in July. With AWD, merchants store inventory upstream, and Amazon sends it to its fulfillment centers as needed – it explains the service on the Amazon AWD landing page as follows:

“Amazon Warehousing and Distribution (AWD) is a low-cost bulk storage solution for your inventory that distributes to the Amazon store and other distribution channels.

“AWD pricing covers FBA inbound placement, so there is no separate charge for this service. AWD’s auto-replenishment capability ensures your FBA inventory is kept in stock.”
