Mötley Crüe recently unveiled “Dogs of War,” their first new song in five years, after inking a record deal with Big Machine.
Nearly a decade ago, it appeared as if Mötley Crüe were over as a band, having wrapped up a farewell tour at the end of 2015. However, the 2019 Netflix biopic The Dirt reinvigorated the veteran rock act, leading them to reunite for a an extensive co-headlining tour with Def Leppard that eventually kicked off in 2022.
With new guitarist John 5 in the lineup, the rock legends are rolling out new music again, beginning with the aforementioned “Dogs of War” and its accompanying eye-catching CGI-generated music video.
Mötley Crüe are also slated to play a number of headlining and festival shows this year. The band will kick off its 2024 itinerary with a two-night stand in Atlantic City on May 3rd and 4th, followed by what appears to be a secret club show in New York City on May 6th and a festival gig at Welcome to Rockville on May 9th. More shows will follow from June through October, including festival appearances at Louder Than Life and Aftershock.
Heavy Consequence had a few minutes to check in with all four members of the Crüe to discuss the new song, John 5’s entry into the fold, working with producer Bob Rock, and their longevity as a band. Read our interview below, and pick up tickets to the band’s upcoming shows via Ticketmaster or StubHub.
What led you to sign with Big Machine Records at this stage in your storied career?
Nikki Sixx: We were without a label, but we created the songs, not thinking really about release date or any of that kind of stuff. And we’ve known [Big Machine founder] Scott [Borchetta] for years. Great guy, great label. And it just seemed like a natural fit. So, we’re pretty stoked about that.
