The Mother Monster is back. Lady Gaga has shared a new song, “Disease,” that offers a return to the peak pop form that put her on the map. Stream it below.
While Gaga revealed to Vogue that a new album would most likely be arriving in February 2025, details around the project are still currently being kept tightly under wraps. “Disease” offers the first look at what is currently being referred to as LG7 and includes some classic Lady Gaga trademarks, including a huge pop chorus and razor sharp choreography.
Even the title of the song could be seen as a reference to the start of her career; with “Bad Romance,” one of her earliest hits, she sings, “I want your ugly, I want your disease/ I want your everything as long as it’s free.”
Now, though, Gaga is fighting diseases instead, singing “I could be your antidote tonight” on the verses before sharing a good prognosis with the chorus hook, “I could play the doctor, I can cure your disease.” Beneath her, the mid-tempo beat pulses with synths and samples, as a driving kick keeps the arrangement moving towards a head-bobbing, bass-heavy remedy for whatever needs curing.

Although her most recent film venture, Joker: Folie à Deux, was largely a critical and commercial failure, Gaga made lemonade out of lemons with a solid companion album based off her character, Harley Quinn. Revisit our reviews of Harlequin and Joker: Folie à Deux.
In August, Gaga teamed up with Bruno Mars for ballad “Die with a Smile,” which spent nearly 60 days at No. 1 on Spotify’s global streaming chart.
