After working with Iron Man‘s Robert Downey Jr. and Captain Marvel‘s Jude Law in his Sherlock Holmes duology, filmmaker Guy Ritchie has enlisted two more Marvel Cinematic Universe veterans for his next movie, Wife & Dog. One of the stars of Prime Video’s The Wheel of Time has also joined the forthcoming movie.
Per Deadline, Benedict Cumberbatch, Rosamund Pike, and Anthony Hopkins have boarded the cast of Ritchie’s Wife & Dog, which is set to begin filming in February 2025 in the UK. Cumberbatch is best known for playing the MCU’s Doctor Strange as well as Sherlock Holmes in the BBC’s modern-day series adaptation of Arthur Conan Doyle’s detective stories. Pike has appeared in several high-profile movies, such as Jack Reacher, Gone Girl, and Saltburn, and is currently part of the main cast of The Wheel of Time, which has been renewed for a third season on Prime Video. As for Hopkins, the two-time Oscar winner portrayed Odin in the MCU, although he is perhaps best known for his scene-stealing performance as Hannibal Lecter in The Silence of the Lambs.

Jason Statham Thinks You Should Watch These 2 Guy Ritchie Movies, & He’s Right
Before he became an action star, Jason Statham starred in two seedy crime-comedies that he wholeheartedly recommends his fans watch.
While plot details are being kept under wraps on Wife & Dog, the movie has been described as a “return to the colourful, back-stabbing world of the British aristocracy Richie explored in The Gentlemen film and TV series.” Ritchie wrote the screenplay for Wife & Dog and will also produce alongside longtime producing partner Ivan Atkinson and Black Bear’s John Friedberg. Wife & Dog marks the third collaboration between Black Bear and Ritchie after The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare (2024) and the upcoming In the Grey, which coincidentally also stars Pike.
Guy Ritchie Is Staying Busy
Ritchie remains one of the hardest-working directors in the world, with the filmmaker either attached to or in production on multiple projects across film and television. The director is in post-production on his next two movies, In the Grey and Fountain of Youth, with Eiza González appearing in both in a supporting role. Lionsgate will release the former, which also stars frequent collaborators Henry Cavill and Jake Gyllenhaal, in theaters in January 2025, while the latter will be released by Apple TV on a to-be-announced date. That movie boasts a cast that includes John Krasinski, Natalie Portman, Domhnall Gleeson, and Laz Alonso.

Guy Ritchie Is the Only One Who Can Save This $855 Million Action Franchise
The 4th Expendables film was a massive flop, but that doesn’t mean that one of Jason Statham’s best collaborators can’t help turn the series around.
On the small screen, Ritchie is currently directing the eight-episode television series Young Sherlock, an adaptation of Andrew Lane’s Young Sherlock Holmes book series, for Prime Video. The series stars Hero Fiennes Tiffin as a teenage version of the sleuth who is “disgraced, raw, unfiltered, and unformed when he finds himself caught up in a murder mystery at Oxford University which threatens his freedom.” Other television projects Ritchie is in development on include a second season of The Gentlemen at Netflix and a British remake of Ray Donovan for Paramount+ titled Guy Ritchie’s The Associate. Tom Hardy, Helen Mirren, and Pierce Brosnan are in final negotiations to star in the latter.
