Small Batch Angel Food Cake


 This cake is great for a base as strawberry shortcake,  with chocolate or caramel sauce over it, or just plain.

SMALL BATCH ANGEL FOOD CAKE

(serves 4)

Ingredients:

*2/3 cup granulated sugar

*2/3 cup all-purpose flour (or cake flour to make it lighter)

*8 large egg whites (about 1 cup)

*1/4 teaspoon salt

*1 teaspoon cream of tarter

*1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

*1/2 teaspoon almond extract

Directions:

~Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

~Line an 8×8 baking pan with parchment paper.

~Sift 2/3 cup granulated sugar and 2/3 cups all-purpose flour together twice.

~In a large mixing bowl, on medium speed, beat 8 egg whites, 1/4 teaspoon salt, and 1 teaspoon cream of tarter until eggs are frothy.

~Slowly add in 1/3 cup granulated sugar on medium high speed.

~Add in  1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract and 1/2 teaspoon almond extract and beat until you have stiff peaks.

~Gently fold in flour and sugar mixture.

~Pour into prepare pan.

~Bake for 45 minutes.

~Remove from oven and invert cake on a wire rack until cooled.

~Using a knife loosen the sides of the cake from the pan.

~Carefully remove cake from pan.

  1. I know this if off topic but I’m looking into starting my own weblog
    and was wondering what all is required to get setup?

    I’m assuming having a blog like yours would cost a pretty penny?
    I’m not very web savvy so I’m not 100% sure.
