Why This Lemon Drop Shots Recipe is So Good
- 3 Ingredients: The ingredients needed to make lemon drop shots are vodka, sugar, and fresh lemon juice. That’s it! I always have a lemon in the fridge, and the other two in the pantry, so it’s easy to throw this drink together on the fly.
- Completely Delicious! Lemon Drop shots taste just like lemon drop candy, and everyone loves the super tart and super sweet flavor.
- Fun to Make: If you want to get fancy, coat the rims of your shot glasses with sugar or crushed lemon candy.
Tips and Tricks
- Splurge on Good Vodka: Since there are so few ingredients in this drink, you’ll want to make sure that all of them are fresh and high quality. Choose your favorite vodka. I’m using Smirnoff here, but Tito’s or Grey Goose are also excellent choices.
- Fresh Lemon is a Must: Bottled lemon juice is convenient, but it doesn’t have the same bright, fresh flavor that freshly squeezed juice has.
- Use Simple Syrup: granulated sugar won’t dissolve all the way in this cold vodka shot, so using sugar dissolved into a syrup is the best way to sweeten the drink. For a sugar-free version, try making Stevia Simple Syrup. You might also like to play around with peach simple syrup or raspberry simple syrup in your cocktail recipes.
- Chill Your Ingredients: I always keep the vodka in the freezer. If you start with chilled ingredients, you won’t need to add any ice to the shaker, which can water down your shots.
- Sugar the Rim: Add a sweet detail to your shots by adding a granulated sugar rim to each glass. Simply dip the tops of the glasses in lemon juice, then dip into some sugar that you’ve put on a plate. Easy!
