Focus Matters – Another Well Ministries

And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment. — Mark 12:30

If you ask anyone who knows me really well, they will tell you that I have challenges with my attention. It is not uncommon for me to have my mind racing in 30 different directions at the same time. Other times, I can become so focused on one thing that I lose sight of something much bigger.

There are some who would say this is ADHD, where I deal with periods of hyperactivity and then periods of stagnation. What I have learned in dealing with this in my life is that my mind is a powerful thing. It has the ability to help me in many ways or to hurt me in so many others.

One of the greatest reminders for me personally is this verse, where I am to love the Lord God with all my heart, soul, and mind. Yes, instead of becoming fixated on everything else or distracted by 30 different things, God should be front and center at all times. He should be my focus!

It can be easy for anyone to become distracted in life. With all the people and things moving around us, it can be easy to focus on them. It can also be easy to become focused on one thing, missing things that you should see. In other words, focus matters.

Our hearts, but also our minds, should be focused on God in all things and at all times. What are you focused on today? Are you distracted by the world or focused on one thing that may keep you from focusing on God? Today, ask God to help your focus because focus matters!
