KITCHEN TRENDS

GENERAL:
· Kitchens are getting bigger
· Transitional, mid-century modern & modern styles will continue to dominate, while industrial, Scandinavian, & glam styles are expected to increase in popularity
· Trend is towards less of one overall style, while mixing elements of a few styles to create a custom look
· Neutral colors in various hues & shades of white, ranging from bright contemporary white to traditional buttercream
· Dramatic accents of color & painted island cabinets in strong primary colors such as navy & French blue, black, green, orange, coral, sun yellow, mustard, pinks, & orchid
· “Statement ceilings” with shiplap, metal, patterned ceilings & wood beams

WALLS & FLOORS:
· Large format tiles in marble & porcelain in a wood, concrete, & striated stone look
· Strong geometric looks such as encaustic tile patterns
· Tile in botanical leafy patterns, hexagonal tile, white, pink, lilac, & orchid colors
· Tiles with freeform edges or 2 tile styles melting into each other

ISLANDS & COUNTERTOPS:
· Quartz continues to dominate, with a matte finish being most popular in solid neutral colors (white, taupe, gray, & matte graphite)
· Large format porcelain slabs
· Concrete, quartzite, & highly textured & exotic granites
· Waterfall edge counters with thick, mitered edges
· Sintered thin surface counters
· Mix & match surfaces
· Metallic finishes

CABINETS:
· Contemporary European styles with hidden handles
· White, gray, & modern wood tones (such as expresso & wengue)
· Custom cabinets with deep, wide drawers & walls of cabinets
· LED lighting inside doors & drawers & undercabinet lighting
· Vertical lift doors & motorized opening systems
· Storage for spice racks, wine drawers, vacuum pans in toe kicks, pet centers, charging stations
· Mixed metals for cabinet drawer & door handles & pulls

APPLIANCES:
· Integrated white paneled, black stainless steel finishes, bright colors, & unique handles
· Wi-Fi & smartphone “connected appliances” with touch screens & touch sensors
· Steam ovens, pizza ovens, & induction cooktops
· Drawer dishwashers, microwave drawers, narrow refrigerators, refrigerator/freezer columns & micro appliances

LIGHTING:
· Modern pendant lighting
· Mixed elements such as glass finished with brass, chrome, or matte black
· Integrated LED’s
· Improved LED dimming & color

BATH TRENDS

GENERAL:
· Mix of transitional & farmhouse, or polished industrial looks
· Natural wood finishes with crisp white details
· Organic elements that bring warmth & softness to the space
· Specialty metal finishes like matte black, brass, satin brass, bronze, brushed gold, pewter, graphite, gunmetal, & chrome are seen on faucets, vanity legs, hardware & lighting, with these metals being mixed

WALLS & FLOORS:
· Tile remains the top choice, with hexagonal, elongated subway, large format shapes, herringbone, & chevron patterns
· Floor to ceiling slabs
· Large format tiles in marble & porcelain, in a wood, concrete, & striated stone look

VANITIES & CABINETS:
· Vanities with clean lines (recessed panel & slab door cabinets) in low sheen & matte finishes
(white neutrals, black, blue, & gray)
· Wall mounted floating cabinetry
· Cabinets made of MDF, recycled & laminate materials
· High-gloss & textured melamine looks
· Different heights, reduced depths & open shelves

TECHNOLOGY:
· Controls for lighting, music, water temperature, & leak detection
· Mirrors with integrated TV’s
· Speakers in showers
· Radiant floor heating
· Color therapy in showers & tubs

SHOWER SYSTEMS & SURROUNDS:
· Solid surface wall finishes
· Digital touch controls
· Open & curbless “roll-in” showers
· Steam showers
· Black divided light shower doors & partitions
· Wet rooms: tubs within an oversized shower stall with a floor drain
· Exposed shower pipes

FIXTURES:
· Minimalist fixture design with a clean, simple look
· Urban-chic industrial feel
· Trough sinks made from stone or porcelain slabs
