Paneer Malai Tikka in 6 Simple Steps

During my keto journey, one of the most challenging things I had to do was figure out how to make Indian foods low in carbs and rich in fat without sacrificing flavour. But one ingredient in my culinary journey has proven to be my constant ally: “paneer.”

This time I made Keto Paneer Malai Tikka. I like the chewy, creamy taste of paneer mixed with Indian spices. Even though I’ve already shared many fantastic keto paneer recipes before, this is special to me because it’s a family favourite.

With a delectable combination of creamy paneer and rich fresh malai (cream), this recipe reaches new heights of taste. It’s perfect for light lunches or even appetizers, so it quickly became a staple in my meal rotation. So, without further ado, let’s dive into the recipe.

Serves 4 people
Prep time 45 minutes
Marination time 30 minutes

Ingredients

  • 4 tablespoon refined oil
  • 400 gm paneer

For Marination

  • 4 cheese cubes
  • 4 tablespoon almonds
  • 2 teaspoon ginger garlic paste
  • 2 tablespoon fresh cream
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon green cardamom
  • 1 teaspoon onion seeds
  • 1 teaspoon white pepper powder

For Garnishing

Procedure

  1. Cut paneer into small cubes and keep aside for a while. Now, grate cheese cubes and cashews, and grind them well to make a thick paste.
  2. Now, take a large bowl and put grated cheese and cashew paste in it. After that, add ginger garlic paste, white pepper powder, green cardamom powder, fresh cream, and thymol seeds to the mixture. Mix everything well and keep this marinade aside.
  3. Marinate the cut paneer cubes and let it sit for around 30 minutes.
  4. After a while, gently add marinated paneer cubes to the skewer and prick them slightly. Now, it’s time to grill the paneer cubes for 10 minutes while basting with oil/butter.
  5. Once paneer cubes are properly grilled, put them on a plate.
  6. Sprinkle chaat masala on it and enjoy your Keto paneer malai tikka.

This Keto Paneer Malai Tikka is not only a good appetizer, it is easy to adapt to your diet in versatile ways. Sometimes, I pair it with low-carb dip for a yummy snack time or enjoy it with my fresh green salad as a side dish.

Malai is a type of clotted cream, originating from the Indian subcontinent, used in the cuisine of the Indian subcontinent, especially, with regard to sweets from the Indian subcontinent. It is made by heating non-homogenized whole milk to about 80 °C (180 °F) for about one hour and then cooling it. A thick yellowish layer of fat and coagulated proteins forms on the surface, which is skimmed off.
