Sustainability is no longer just an industry buzzword, the annual survey by The International Air Cargo Association (TIACA) reflects that it is a critical component of any organisation’s successful future. It is important for enhanced customer relationships, successful supply chain partnerships, securing finance, compliance with regulatory demands, demonstrating alignment with local community needs and attracting the highest calibre workforce.
It is not just for the big organisations but for all. It is not just about the environment, it is also about our approach to people, to communities, to waste management, to innovation and efficiency, all of which lead to enhanced prosperity.
And it starts with an organisational plan.
The TIACA survey also revealed that many organisations did not know if they were on the right track or even where to get started, this gave rise to TIACA publishing the Industry Sustainability Roadmap, and then the TIACA BlueSky programme was launched.
“The BlueSky programme is an independent assessment of a company’s sustainability plans and actions. It is evidenced-based, and organisations receive a personalised dashboard highlighting how they are performing,” Glyn Hughes, Director General of TIACA, stated.
“It is not a pass/fail assessment, as everyone is on a different sustainability journey, so it facilitates and accelerates an organisations delivery of their sustainability strategy.
“For companies who have not yet developed a strategy, the results are just as informative as they give great guidance as to the areas they should include.
“BlueSky has been developed specifically for the Air cargo and logistics industry, and the assessment questionnaire is tailored to a company’s specific sector.
