“The individual experienced only mild illness and has fully recovered,” Dr. Sara Present, the Clackamas County public health officer, said.

Present said the county’s Public Health Division is “closely monitoring people exposed to the animal outbreak, which is how this case was identified.”

There is no evidence of person-to-person transmission according to the CDC, a phenomenon that affected multiple people in Missouri earlier this year.

Last month, Oregon reported it had found the first case of bird flu in a pig. Finding the virus in a pig put public health officials on watch for it spreading to humans because the animals can be infected by both human and bird viruses.

An outbreak of bird flu among dairy cattle later passed to other livestock and humans in the U.S., began in late March, per the Department of Agriculture.
