Resolution Games today announced the launch of its long-awaited mixed-reality first-person shooter, Spatial Ops. The title uses players’ available space to create the battlefield for its multiplayer matches, with Resolution saying the game merges the physical and digital worlds. The game is available on Quest devices as well as the PICO Campaign Edition.

Spatial Ops’ Arena mode, which can be played by up to eight players in 4v4 gameplay, is its standout feature. Players can map out a single room or an entire floor to use as an arena. Various modes within Arena include Free for All, Team Deathmatch, Capture the Flag and Domination. The game also features a seven-level single-player Campaign mode. According to Resolution, no two games of Spatial Ops are the same, as the gameplay is tailored to the physical space the player maps.

Tommy Palm, Resolution Games CEO, said in a statement, “Spatial Ops represents the next step in the evolution of first-person shooters, delivering a level of engagement and physicality never before seen in gaming, where the real and digital worlds become one around you and your body is the controller. In all my years in gaming, I can say that we are absolutely ushering in a new era of gameplay with Spatial Ops.”

Resolution launched Spatial Ops in open beta form in 2022 (after teasing it in an October reveal) via the Sidequest platform. This is not the first game that the company has launched that mixes reality and virtual spaces: One of its other major titles is Demeo, the virtual dungeon crawler. It also recently revealed virtual sports title Home Sports for Quest 3 platforms.
