DHL Global Forwarding has been recertified with IATA’s CEIV Pharma standard for excellence in life sciences and healthcare transportation.
The certification recognises DHL Global Forwarding’s expertise in meeting quality standards and regulatory requirements for safe and compliant air handling of high-value, time-sensitive, and temperature-controlled pharmaceutical products.
“We are very pleased to receive the renewed global certification according to the IATA CEIV Pharma standard and the recognition of our transport network for the specific requirements of the life sciences and healthcare industry,” said Max Sauberschwarz, head of global airfreight at DHL Global Forwarding.
“The award underlines the continuous improvement of our service quality and reliability as a partner for processing and transporting vital and temperature-sensitive pharmaceutical products.”
Since 2016, DHL has certified its global stations to the IATA CEIV Pharma standard. Through independent audits and on-site training, DHL has obtained quality seals for its 33 strategic stations handling life sciences and healthcare airfreight worldwide.
At DHL Global Forwarding, dedicated Certified Life Sciences Specialist (CLSS) training is provided to all employees involved in life sciences and healthcare shipments. This mandatory training ensures that sensitive shipments at all 111 DHL Air GxP stations worldwide are handled in accordance with the highest industry standards.
DHL’s cloud-based IT platform, LifeTrack, provides customers with transparent tracking and proactive monitoring of their shipments. IATA verifies compliance with temperature control regulations and GDP guidelines at all locations to ensure the highest quality standards.
DHL offers a broad product portfolio for time- and temperature-sensitive airfreight shipments at its Air GxP locations. Specialised services include the door-to-door “Life Sciences graded Specialty Courier” solution, the fixed-delivery “Medical Express” service, and “DHL Clinical Trial Logistics,” a logistics solution for clinical trials such as the transportation of trial drugs, supplies, and laboratory kits.
“Increasing regulatory requirements in the life sciences and healthcare industry require constant adaptation in the storage, handling and transportation of product,” said Dominique Mayer, global head of GxP compliance at DHL Global Forwarding.
“With our renewed certification to the IATA CEIV Pharma Standard, we demonstrate that we are continuously improving our service quality and are a reliable partner for the transportation of sensitive products via airfreight.”
