SIXT Car Rentals has an excellent status match program with dozens of airlines, including multiple recent additions. Matched statuses last a lifetime, although there are a couple of caveats. So, here’s what you need to know about the SIXT status match program.

SIXT Status Match Program

SIXT is the fourth-largest car rental company in the U.S. It has an even larger presence overseas, with over 2,200 locations across 100 countries. At the time of writing, there are over 100 rental locations in the U.S. across 18 states, roughly a third of which are at airports. Where SIXT shines is in the quality of its fleet. The focus is on premium cars — primarily of German make, considering SIXT is a German company.

When matching a status with SIXT, the status match will never expire. However, SIXT members will only receive eligible upgrades for the first 12 months of the new status. After that, members will need to complete a required number of car rentals to continue receiving this benefit. Residents of Belgium, Spain, France, the U.K., Luxembourg, the Netherlands, and the U.S. must complete 10 rentals in 12 months to continue receiving upgrades with Gold status. Residents of all other countries must complete 20 rentals in 12 months.

SIXT Partners

SIXT has dozens of airline and hotel partners. Many of these partners have a status match program with SIXT, allowing you to attain SIXT Gold, Platinum, or even Diamond status.

Each partner offers different status matches to SIXT. Here are a few examples:

There is one option to status match to SIXT Diamond status, but it’s nearly irrelevant as it requires Flying Blue Ultimate or Club 2,000/Skipper status, both of which are extremely rare. Ironically, SIXT Diamond status is by invitation only, just like the statuses that match to it. The Air France Club 2,000/KLM Skipper status is basically a legendary status and could be obsolete. From time to time, you can get bonus points or miles with the partner company when status-matching to SIXT. One such example was the Finnair to SIXT status match promotion in 2023.

Elite status members of other car rental companies in the U.S. can also status match to SIXT. The following statuses match to SIXT Gold status:

To match your status with an airline or hotel partner, go to the SIXT partner page and select your desired partner. Scroll down to the “We Match Your Status” section and click on the applicable link, depending on your status with the airline or hotel loyalty program. Status matches should process instantly.

Our Take

SIXT status matches are relatively straightforward, and there are plenty of partners and options. If you hold elite status with an airline, it’s worth matching to SIXT, if only for your 10%–15% discount.

SIXT is known for having high-quality, German-made cars. Although SIXT doesn’t have the biggest presence in the U.S., it’s a great car rental company in Europe (one I’ve used many times myself). Of course, customers will always have horror stories, but that applies to all car rental companies. In general, I find SIXT very reliable.
