Marvel Comics has unveiled Stanley ‘Artgerm’ Lau’s stunning new variant cover for the upcoming five-issue limited series Wolverine: Revenge. The comic book’s debut issue arrives on August 21.
Per Marvel, the Wolverine: Revenge series will also be available as Red Band Editions “bloodier and more violent than ever and polybagged for the protection of innocent eyes!” Lau’s Wolverine cover, which showcases the iconic mutant with bloody claws, will also be available as a virgin variant cover. Acclaimed writer Jonathan Hickman penned the upcoming series, with art by iconic artist Greg Capullo, marking his first series project since his return to the publisher last year.

Wolverine: Revenge is part of Marvel Comics’ 50th Anniversary celebration of Logan. The publisher’s description of the upcoming Wolverine series reads, “Wolverine: Revenge will be five issues of pure, unadulterated Wolverine action as Capullo and Hickman pit Wolverine against a cadre of foes who will turn his world upside down, including Sabretooth, Omega Red, Deadpool, and more. He’s been beaten! He’s been bloodied! And Logan only has one thought on his mind: REVENGE!”
Wolverine: Revenge’s Creators Discussed Their Collaboration
Capullo is excited about his return to the Marvel family and his collaboration with Hickman for Wolverine: Revenge. “I’ve finally returned home to Marvel, and I’m ready to raise some Hell. And, who better to do that with than the Hitman Hickman,” he said. “To celebrate, Marvel has removed the fences and let us off our leash so that we can bring the most vicious and punishing Wolverine story possible to the fans this summer. I hope they’re prepared,” the artist added.

Hickman is equally pleased about his team-up with Capullo, “Well, obviously it’s such a privilege to get to work with a legend like Greg,” he said. “When we first talked about the project, our number one concern was taking the readers on a high-octane, no-hold-barred Wolverine story that was a proper celebration of both the character and Greg returning to Marvel. And like he said, the bosses cut us loose, and the result is a wild book. Honestly, I can’t wait for everyone to get to check it out,” Hickman enthused.
Wolverine: Revenge #1 will arrive in comic book shops on August 21, 2024.
