Marvel’s Scarlet Witch third issue description reads, “Lore returns! Scarlet Witch‘s fight to reach the land of the living puts her face-to-face with her necromantic Multiversal counterpart! Lore won’t stop until her death at Wanda’s hands is avenged—but another one of Wanda’s nemeses may hold the key to her survival!” Lore destroyed her own world before trying to conquer the Multiverse and represents Wanda’s worst fear — a version of herself that’s gone mad with power. Scarlet Witch may need to embrace her inner darkness to defeat Lore.
Dauterman discussed his Lore design and how it contrasted with Wanda’s, “Redesigning Lore was a huge treat,” he said. “Lore is an evil Wanda variant, so I wanted to contrast the design I did for our Scarlet Witch, which was meant to be magical, vibrant, and super-heroic, by going dark and sinister, with a goth, undead vibe. I’m incredibly excited to also be drawing some interiors in the issue where these two Wandas face off,” Dauterman added.
X-Men: The Quiet Council’s Fate During Fall of X, Explained
The chosen leaders of the X-Men’s Krakoan society suffered heavy blows during the Fall of X event and the Quiet Council was left in a different place.
The possibility of Wanda’s Marvel Cinematic Universe return has been a prime topic of speculation ever since the release of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, where she seemingly perishes during a climactic confrontation at Mount Wundagore. An excerpt from The Marvel Cinematic Universe: An Official Timeline reveals the Scarlet Witch died when trying to save her universe from destruction.
“[Wanda] destroys Wundagore – and collapses it upon herself – ending two great threats to all of the Multiverse,” it states in the MCU book. Wanda actor Elizabeth Olsen has never completely ruled out a return to the franchise, and Marvel Studios are reportedly interested in making a Scarlet Witch movie.
Scarlet Witch #3 will arrive in comic book shops on August 21, 2024.
