Amanda Waller Endangers All of DC’s Metahumans in Absolute Power Event


DC Comics has given a first look at their upcoming Absolute Power summer event that shows Brainiac, Failsafe and Amanda Waller on the rise like never before. The newly previewed Absolute Power comics show the DC Universe in turmoil as its metahuman superheroes have been left powerless.




Absolute Power sees Amanda Waller’s rise to power as she plots to take all the metahuman powers from both heroes and villains alike, causing DC’s legendary roster of heroes to unite to put a stop to her. The high-stakes story will ramp up throughout August among the pages of Absolute Power #2, Absolute Power: Origins #2 and Absolute Power: Task Force VII #4-5. DC has also announced that Batman #151, Green Arrow #15, Green Lantern #14, Wonder Woman #12 and Superman #17 will all tie into the blockbuster summer event.

Absolute Power #2, releasing Aug. 7, teases a shocking betrayal that will see a hero turned enemy with a new addition to the Trinity of Evil. A task force is mounted by Nightwing to stop Failsafe and Amanda Waller‘s army in Absolute Power: Task Force VII #4 on Aug. 14, with Barry Allen and the Flash Family later joining the resistance in the fifth issue on Aug. 28. Also releasing Aug. 28, Absolute Power: Origins #2 details the rise of Amanda Waller, showcasing her immeasurable loss as she creates Task Force X and gives rise to one of the deadliest teams in the DC Universe.


Batman, Superman, and More Will Tie-In With Absolute Power This August

The events of DC’s Absolute Power event will have repercussions across the entire DC Universe, with DC sharing details about several tie-in titles also releasing in August. On Aug. 7, Batman and Catwoman will aid the resistance in Batman #151, launching a heist to retrieve a mysterious device critical to Amanda Waller’s plans that’s hidden on a remote island. Hal Jordan wields the weapons of some of DC’s most infamous villains as he tries to escape Waller’s clutches in Green Lantern #14, on sale Aug. 14.

On Aug. 21, Wonder Woman #12 sees Diana team-up with Damian Wayne to save their fellow heroes. Lastly, Green Arrow characters Arsenal, Connor Hawke, Red Canary, Red Arrow, Lian Harper and Arrowette battle it out with Waller’s Task Force X in Green Arrow #15 on Aug. 28.

DC’s Absolute Power titles will be released throughout the month of August.
