It started when Chisaki and Kogarashi were accidentally teleported to a deserted island while Oboro and Matora were fighting. After surviving together for a couple of days they were rescued, however, now everyone wanted to go to the beach!
Yuuna and the Haunted Hot Springs (Volume 14) – An Unwanted Exorcism
What happened?
Luckily, Nonko was prepared to make it happen and hired her usual private villa. Everyone quickly settled in although Kogarashi was the one doing most of the work to set up the place. Nonko, Yuuna, Koyuzu, Hibari, and Oboro all decided that they needed Kogarashi to apply their oil to help them tan. Of course, that would be too much, so everyone pitched in much to several of the girls’ annoyance. Anyhow, after a day at the beach, they had a nice fish dinner and prepared for some evening fun. Koyuzu had a game that she wanted to play that involved asking questions and setting challenges.
The first question was to talk about your first love and that question went to Kogarashi. He revealed that his first love was probably his master – the one who trained him and made him into a Yatahagane. Most people seemed surprised that Kogarashi’s master had been a woman. Anyhow, on to the next question. This time, it was Matora’s turn and she challenged someone to a fight. That just happened to be Nonko, however, Nonko hadn’t drunk enough. Hiougi opened a portal back to Yuragi-sou so that Matora could run and grab a couple of bottles. However, when she got that, she found someone who looked like they wanted to fight.
When Matora didn’t come back, the others went looking for her and found her defeated by the mysterious person. It turned out to be Ouga Makyouin, Kogarashi’s master. With that confusion sorted out, Makyouin came back to the beach villa with them and told them all about Kogarashi. There was the time she first met him. He was killed by an evil spirit trying to save her even though she is a spirit too. She put his soul back in his body and then watched over him, enjoying the numerous occasions he was possessed. Finally, she decided to train him, which was fortunate because she needed him to help save the world from a giant evil spirit called Garandou. After that, he helped her pass on, but she came back when she learned that Garandou never passed on. She tracked its spirit energy to Yuragi-sou… Yuuna had the same energy…
What did you think?
We’ve had little snippets of information about Yuuna’s past over the last few volumes, but now it’s all finally coming together. It turns out that she was a member of one of the three great houses. She was a member of the Tenko clan. We also learned that evil spirits would often hide the spirits they consumed in another location. Makyouin claimed that Yuuna was doing that and hiding her spirits on the dark side of the moon which is where they fought Garandou. There are a lot of things that don’t quite add up such as Sagiri being as Yuragi-sou when this happened. She would have noticed something like this, so there’s definitely more to it than we’ve been told so far. It’s definitely getting interesting.
We also learned a lot about Kogarashi such as how he saved the world from total destruction. Of course, he did. That’s too funny. After everything he’s done, he’s still the coolest and most humble guy around. His personality is definitely what makes this series work. I loved how this volume was entirely focused on this grand story. I do enjoy the little arcs which are just fun, but it is nice to get some meat on this series every once in a while. Basically, I can’t wait until Makyouin moves into Yuragi-sou. It’s bound to happen. Everyone else they’ve had a run-in with seems to find a way to stay around. Also, I loved Nonko’s fight with Makyouin. That was insane.
