Book Review: Someone Died In My House – Meg Howald

There were sudden appearances at first that gnawed at the soul of Ben’s home, like sickening blood splatter and chards of mirrors, seductive shadows, and wounded cries. Something invaded his finely balanced lifestyle and threatened his emotional equilibrium. He knew he was at war.

He works hard to create a near-perfect life for the three of them – himself, his daughter, Annie, and their dog, da Vinci. But when these disturbances blow out of control, Ben finds a team of forensic paranormalists who perform an autopsy on Ben’s house.

Together they wade into its soulless history of murder and a cataclysmic haunting that redefines where life ends, and death begins. Ben surrenders what’s left of his fragile will to free his home from its terrifying anarchist and courageously opens a door he never knew existed, always asking himself what price he’d pay for truth, justice, and unforgettable love.

Book Review: Someone Died In My House – Meg Howald

Someone Died In My House by Meg Howald is a horror, thriller, and psychological book all in one. I was absolutely thrilled when Meg Howald sent this book over to me via email, I was so excited to read it!

The book revolves around the plot of Ben who is a comic author. Him and his 10-year-old special needs daughter, and their dog da Vinci move into into a three story haunted house. Soon after he starts sensing paranormal things, even getting attacked by an incubus. Ben teams up with a group of forensic paranormalists who investigate his house.

Together, they uncover its dark history of murder and haunting, challenging the boundaries between life and death. Ben, determined to free his home from its terrifying past, bravely explores new truths, always questioning the cost of truth, justice, and unforgettable love.

I enjoyed the writing of Meg Howald, it was easy to understand but impactful all the same. The characters are beautifully executed. Every element added to the narrative making it more engaging. There are many twists throughout the book, making the suspense and horror blend amazingly. The horror elements are a great plus to the entire plot of twists and turns.

The vivid descriptions of the paranormal activity and the settings added depth to the story making it more gripping. The character development also added to the story just concoting a beautiful array of writing elements. The spacing and pacing is also is masterful easily captivating the reader all along. The light sweep of romance was also something I heavily enjoyed.

The only thing I disliked was the comprehensive and editing errors.
