Question: A 79-year-old female patient presented to our department with a history of abdominal pain lasting for 4 days and vomiting for the past 2 days, accompanied by feelings of nausea. Her medical history includes an open cholecystectomy performed 40 years ago. On physical examination, the patient exhibited normal body temperature and blood pressure, with a heart rate of 80 beats/min. Her body mass index was 24.8 and her weight was 65 kg. Abdominal tenderness was noted in the upper right quadrant, with tympany and increased bowel sounds.
