The police will send Yang to the Seoul Central District Prosecutors’ Office on the 5th.
Yang is accused of smoking hemp several times with acquaintances, including infants, during a trip to the U.S. from January to February last year.
Yang left for France in April last year as the investigation into his accomplices progressed, continued his escape, and voluntarily returned home through Incheon International Airport on the 28th of last month, a year and seven months later, and was arrested by police.
The police previously issued an arrest warrant for Yang, invalidated his passport, and requested the Interpol (International Criminal Police Organization) to place him/her on a wanted list.
Kim Mi-kyung, a senior judge at the Seoul Central District Prosecutors’ Office, issued an arrest warrant on the grounds that Yang was feared to run away.
Meanwhile, actor Yoo Ah-in, who was sentenced to one year in prison in the first trial on charges of taking habitual drugs such as propofol, is facing an appeal trial. At the first hearing of the appeals court on the 29th of last month, Yoo’s lawyer appealed for leniency, saying, “Yoo did not violate maliciously using loopholes in laws or regulations, but he became dependent on sleeping anesthetics in a situation that was already physically and mentally difficult.”
