うる星やつら episode 34 (2002)
Urusei Yatsura 34 (2022) review
SPOILER Summary/Synopsis:
The principal visits Onsen-sensei’s class as the students bicker with their teacher. Later, the students clean in the principal’s office. The principal is unconscious with a knock on his forehead. Onsen-sensei grills the students and comes up with theories to implicate each of them. Ryuunosuke, Ataru, and Shuutarou turn tables on Onsen-sensei and interrogate him as Sakura-sensei observes. The principal wakes up and reveals he knocked himself out trying to crack a boiled egg.
Lum visits Ran, who’s growing an alien plant that can repeat gossip it hears. Ran and Lum both yell bad things about each other, then cover the plant when they realize the harm it could do. Cherry releases the plant, causing it to spread its flowers all over town and take root. The different flowers have different fragments, making people think the worst, like Shuutarou wets his bed.
The battered Onsen-sensei visits the Moriboshi home, but it too weak to be heard.
Thoughts/Review:
The drek that comprised Urusei Yatsura 34 came from source manga chapters 311, 233, and the last segment from chapter 331. The first story apparently never received an OG anime adaptation, even though I thought I remembered it. The second story’s OG adaptation was episode 135. And of course, OG episode 189 covered the Onsen-sensei visit, which originally came from chapter 298.
Boring Rubbish
The first story of Urusei Yatsura 34 is just some poor parody of a “who done it” murder mystery. It was beyond stupid and not funny in the least. I felt myself losing IQ points as I watched it. I’m starting to remember how much of the OG anime bored the crap out of me ’cause the underlying source stories were drek.
Likewise, the second story of the episode was rubbish. Again, it wasn’t funny. However these flowers regurgitating bits of what Lum and Ran screamed is supposed to make me laugh. Its just more stupidity. I found it to be more of a mixed bag in the OG adaptation. But that wasn’t the case here.
Finally, we again have the continuation (and hopefully completion) of Onsen-sensei’s home visits. Guess who didn’t laugh?
Final Thoughts and Conclusion
In the end, Urusei Yatsura 34 is full of tedious, boring rubbish with trash subtitles.
